Hi Girlies,

I have three small children (under 5) My eldest has just started school and is four and half, and has been dry inthe day since his second birthday (we had it soooo easy!!!) but we are struggling at night!! We have tried waking him and taking him to the toilet...but he still wets.! We have tried star charts....but he still wets!!! We have tried taking away his pull up...but he STILL WETS!!! If we dont put pullups on him he will sleep all night in a soaking wet bed, but its got to the point now where he is sleeping through and weeing loads so the pullups are just not holding it. When asked about it, he says he just doesn't realise that hes doing it, so is not waking up at all.

Any advice much appreciated...is this normal?:hugs:

My eldest was in pull-ups until he was 5-6 years old :( I was told 1 in every 5 kids will have a bed wetting problem and it is more often boys than girls :( I have also been told that it is not seen as a problem until the child is over 7, so with your LO only being 41/2 then there really isnt anything to worry about. Sorry I dont have any advice as we also tried everything and nothing worked, we eventually ended up giving him tablets to help as he was getting embarrassed about it, we where seen at a bed wetting clinic when Dan was about 5-6 years old and we where given plastic sheets, a night-time alarm and sticker charts nothing worked so I begged for something else and they eventually gave in and gave me the tablets, within a month he was dry all night.

My brother wet the bed till well into primary school age, and wasn't always dry during the day either. The star charts worked in the end, but not till he was six or seven.

Normally its earlier but my friend had this problem too and her son only got the hang of it when he was 7! It was so distressing for both him and her that once she learnt to let go a bit and he felt a little less pressure he started going through the night..

Hope it happens for you soon hun!

it's VERY normal. Don't worry, he'll get through in his own time.
