Fox poo in my garden

Hi I went out to clear up the dog poo this morning and I think a fox there may of been fox poo that I cleared up as well as I don't want the dog eating it or trying to roll in it. I used a nappy sack as I do when I pick up the dogs poo and also washed my hands thoroughly afterwards. But I'm still worried. Does anyone know much about fox poo when your pregnant? Thanks x

Fox poo can carry diseases and germs in it. Toxoplasmosis is obviously the one we need to avoid in pregnancy that sprigs to mind. However, quite a lot of people who have had pets or been around cats in particular have got immunity at some point in their lives. I think of you used a nappy bag and washed your hands, you will be ok.
Do you know how the fox got into your garden? Would be good to try to look for possible gaps in your fence and make it harder for them to come in again.

Im pretty sure youll be fine. I deal with all kinds of poo! From toddler, to horse to chicken!
As long as you wash your hands I think youll be fine

Toxoplasmosis can't be caught from fox poo, the only animals in which the oocysts can reproduce is the cat, the other common method of infection is through eating undercooked meats. As long as you take the same precautions as you would with your dog poo you'll be fine. Whilst pregnant always worth infesting in antibacterial hand wash/ alcohol hand washes just to be on the safe side.

It's no different than dog poo, if u feel safe picking up dog poo why worry about the fox?
Cat is the only poo you need to strictly avoid!

I thought that but I assume shes worried because foxes are wild and un-vaccinated maybe?

but we have very little in the way of seriously worrying illnesses (like rabies) over here so its not that big an issue... the common worries like chlamydia are more from farm animals and I dont think their is much risk of TB for fox droppings alone

I asked because although ive never seen fox poo I would assume its similar to cat poo based on size etc... my neighbours cats used to poo in our garden all the time

Hi I know what fox poo looks like unfortunately. We used to have quite a tame one that used to come into our garden a few summers ago it was not shy at all and used to sunbathe in the garden. It didn't even care when I used to hang the washing out x

All the mention about cat poo has got me really worried though as we recently got a new puppy at Christmas time. We also have a cat who is now around 11. We have never had any issues with her being unclean in the house. She has a cat flap and she doesn't use a litter tray. For the past few weeks she had been behaving very odd and she has started to randomly poo in the house. Not everyday. I read that if your cat starts to do this then they are probably extremely stressed, she hates the dog. My oh has been cleaning up after her, he even had to come home from work the other day to clean up her mess. Although I haven't touched any and if I have had to help clean up I have worn gloves and washed hands thoroughly afterwards im still worried about catching something. X
