Hi,

I am currently going through my third miscarriage in a row in 8 months. I never get past 7 weeks! I feel like I am never going to have a child  and i'm very depressed and looking for success stories. I have just turned 32 and am healthy. I have had lots of tests so far and nothing has come up. Was anyone in the same position as me and is now having a successful pregnancy? Thanks so much

I haven't suffered as many mc as yourself and I am so sorry to read this!!! You may get lots of answers from a site that helped me through my darkest days - www.babyloss.com the ladies are a wonderful support on the forum.
I am wondering if you have been tested for blood clotting, progesterone sp?, genetic problems??? I think you really should be getting huge help after 8 mc, I am sorry hunny xxx

Thanks tiggerz, i have 'only' had 3 miscarriages thankfully in 8 months. I have had those tests yes but nothing came up. How many miscarriages did you have? Did you see a specialist?

Sorry hunny I misread x I've only had 1 mc at 12wks after 3.5yrs ttc, totally devastating, I finally had my second baby 5 yrs after we started ttc. On the nhs after 3 mc they are suppose to start testing you properly to find out what's going wrong. I know alot of people that swear by taking 75mg of aspirin a day from conception.

Congratulations on this pregnancy tiggerz and thanks for replying. It must have been hard waiting 5.5 years, so pleased it all worked out in the end and you're expecting no 3 now! Yes the NHS will help now so im going to go to the docs on Monday. Heard a lot of good things about aspirin!

Yes me! Just a few months ago, I was where you are, I'm 29, had 3 miscarriages and the brilliant medical staff who dealt with me were so comforting and positive, but could give me no reasons for my losses.

It also took me a long time to get pregnant, which made each loss seem even more devastating. But then I got pregnant with this baby pretty soon after my last loss on New Years' Eve and never expected anything to come of it tbh.

But every time I went to a scan, things just seemed to be going perfectly.

I'm not going to lie, the terror has never went away, I've got my next scan on Wednesday and I'm sick to my stomach, even though I listen to the hearbeat every day and I can feel my little darling kicking all the time now.

I sincerely hope that you get your little baby. "Only 3 miscarriages" is 3 miscarriages too many and no-one should have to go through that - I'm so sorry, I understand the pain, but I'm keeping everything crossed for you, that this is the end of this awful time for you and you get your baby. Sending lots of love xxxxx

Oh and have to agree with tiggerz, I started taking asprin 75mg at 11 weeks (on medical advice). I have no idea whether this has anything to do with this baby making it past my 10 - 12 week loss point, but apparently it makes the placenta work harder. I've to keep taking it every day until 36 weeks.

Thank so much for this message. Everything you said is so true about not being able to relax! And the emotional pain and fear is just awful, it must have been worse too if there was a big gap in between getting the chance to try again. So pleased for you now and it really sounds like everything is going perfectly - it's nice that you can listen to your baby's heartbeat when you want to!! It's really great to hear success stories!! Think I will give the asprin a try next time too. I just keep thinking that I am healthy and don't know why this is happening. I never really drink much and never have and I only ever smoked a few cigarettes a day for 4 years on and off but that was years ago. I have been super healthy for years now and only started trying 8 months ago. You're living proof it can work out in the end so i'll hold on to that! x :flower:

Hi,

I had an m/c at 7-8 wks in August 2009, then two 'possible' chemical pregnancies in September 2010 and March 2011 ( I was very late and the bleeding was full of clots and clumps); my GP put me on metformin in September 2010, and given that I had PCOS, my dh and I decided to do IVF, in our preliminary bloods in January 2011, it was realised that I had an underactive thyroid and my GP put me on low dose meds; in May, we did our final pre-IVF bloods and my thyroid was still slightly underactive, so she increased it, and the next bloods (2 weeks later) was perfect level. I had a perfect 28 day cycle and became naturally pregnant in June. I am now 17wks+4 days and believe that the continued use of metformin in pregnancy and my thyroid meds meant that the placenta formation and my hormonal imbalance may have finally been addressed. I am also 43, and honestly believed that I could never get pregnant naturally with my own eggs, so am delighted/shocked that all seems well so far.

I appreciate that everybody has different reasons for not sustaining a pregnancy, but I believe that mine may have just been a number of little things that added up to heartbreak and m/c.

best wishes

no advice, just wanted to send hugs and tell you everything will work out soon xx

Thanks for this sabrinakat, and many congratulations, so pleased for you!! :flower: How did you know you had a hormone imbalance and what's metformin? I've had my thyroid checked on a basic check and it was ok. Also I never really know if my cycle is 28 days or not as I start spotting on cd 28 and then heavy bleed begins on cd 29 so which do I count as day 1 of next cycle if you see what I mean!!

I'll be thinking about you filipenko, and hoping to see you with your own success story very soon! xxx

YES!! I am on my second sucessful pregnancy after 5 losses. It is also undetermined as to why, but my dr. put me on Lovenox (a blood thinner) just as a long shot, and that seems to have worked. PLEASE, whatever you do, don't give up. I think I gave up after every loss, but then when I started cycling again I couldn't help but give it another shot.

The fact that you are getting pregnant is a great sign of fertility. I know it is not easy, but it WILL happen for you.:hugs:

I have had 6 m/c and have 4 wonderful healthy children and preggo with my 5th and 6th it is possible :)

So sorry for your losses....I have also had 3 miscarriages...one at 20 weeks, one at 17 weeks and one at 7 weeks. I am currently nearly 23 weeks and everything is going great! I wish you all the best hun xxx

Hi, I have had 5 losses in total, 2 before my first child was born and 3 after my second child was born. I never really found out what was causing the losses. I had some preliminary testing done and all of that came back normal.

when I got pg with my third child, I went to a new doctor who checked my progesterone and found that it was very low, so I started taking progesterone suppositories and that seemed to have helped.

Now I am pg with our 4th baby and everything seems to be going fine and I didn't need progesterone either.

Just wanted to give you a :hugs: and tell you to please not give up and you will be in my thoughts and prayers for a healthy baby! :hugs:

I had a mc at 6 weeks, another at 7 weeks, and then a chemical pregnancy. I started seeing a specialist and for the first tri I was taking BA, progesterone, and Lovenox (a blood thinner, as they did find I may have clotting issues). Everything is going well so far with this one.

I'm sorry about your losses, and the fear is awful. I am still afraid every day :hugs:

My husband and I suffered 2 miscarriages before this pregnancy and then on this pregnancy at 20 weeks we got told our baby had hydrops fetalis which can be caused by genetic issues, so the doctor put me through a ridiculous amount of worry that me and my hubby couldnt have healthy children together, but as it turns out the hydrops was not caused by this and Im now 24 weeks into pregnancy and baby girl is all healthy!

Thanks everyone, all your posts are really helping me to get through today x x

Filipenko-

It was all routine bloods that they (the fertility/IVF clinic) do pre-IVF (it helps determine the hormonal treatments/injections before hopefully, you release loads of eggs, etc.), where they check TSH (which is thyroid), along with blood count, FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), LH (luteinising hormone), etc. It was realised that my thyroid was underactive and it did take a while for the meds to be correctly adjusted, but once done, seems to have worked. Women aren't usually checked for thyroid function in ordinary pregnancy, but my maternity hospital has continued to monitor and my levels continue to be normal (with daily, life-long medication)....

Metformin is the brand name for the generic Glucophage, in which it has been shown (although some scientists disagree, naturally) to decrease the level of miscarriage, especially in PCOS ladies, but it seems to help with the blood flow/placenta formation.

There's an excellent book, called 3 Steps to fertility by a Marina Nicholas, which I found in my local library and we got an ex-library copy from amazom. com pretty cheap. It was very helpful for me as it went through both natural/holistic and normal western medical tests. At the very least, I know that my body was/in tip-top shape for IVF; that we got pregnant naturally is an added bonus.

best wishes
