from 1st tri: anyone now having success after 3 miscarriages in a row?

Yep. me :)
I'm now nearly 29 weeks pregnant, I had 3 miscarriages in a row - all between 5-8 weeks. We had genetic testing and all the other tests too but no answers...
Also, I have a friend who had 8 before finally having a little girl
I know its heartbreaking, take time to grieve - but have hope - miracles do happen!!

I was put on 75mg asprin this time. Could ask your consultant if it would work for you?

Be prepared to get some very conflicting advice if going to both clinics hun! The problem is no-one reallly knows why some of us have this horrible experience and most of what you're given is still being tried - that's not to say it doesn't work, just means some may say it does while others say it doesn't in my experience. My obs/gynae at my local hospital gave me the prednisolene after I asked him for it. It was quite brave of him and I know lots of others who've been refused, but like I said to him i was prepared to try ANYTHING! I didn't have time for the test and there's lots of different versions of how reliable it is anyway - I researched and it seemed that the only possible side effect was a cleft pallete and it's something that lots of women with other problems (asthma I think is one of them) have to continue to take during pg anyway. Let me know if I can help in any way

Thanks Chilli, i read about the cleft pallete side effect but i think i read the risk was very low and i assume your baby's ok as you can detect via a scan can you? When did you start and stop taking it yourself? And if you don't mind me asking how come you didn't have time for the test and what test would that be? I have been reading about immune problems and it not being supressed enough so it attacks the baby. Also I read that having a cold is good early on as it means that your immune system is supressed and i never get colds! I also find it strange that the baby seems to implant fine in my case then hormone levels double normally and then it all goes to pot at about 6 weeks. Wouldn't my immune system reject it to begin with if that was the case? Might be rambling now and sorry for all the questions, it really helps to discuss things with people who understand!! SO glad tings are working out for you now though and the prednisilone worked for youx x

Dear filipenko32,

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a third miscarriage. My heart goes out to you.

I had 2 miscarriages (March & May 2010) and an ectopic (August 2010) and had to have one of my fallopian tubes removed. Last year was a horrible year. I had some tests done and nothing was found - just one of those things I was told.

I went to see a Chinese Herbal Specialist in Camden and was prescribed Chinese Herbal teas/medicines and acupuncture for 3 months. I am now 27 weeks pregnant but still a bit nervous due to my previous experiences - but I am getting better. I cannot say for definite if the herbal teas/medicine/acupuncture are what helped, but I know that it cured my recurrent UTI's that kept cropping up throughout my previous pregnancies, which the antibiotics could not get rid of.

Try to give yourself a little time before trying again as this is a very difficult time. I know that it is hard to wait as all you want is to see that BFP again - I know I did.

I wish you all the very best!

Thanks so much yazzar, I'm so sorry to read that you had an ectopic too and sorry for your losses, it's so horrible isn't it. I can't think of many things worse and losing your tube is just added horrible extremely bad luck. SO happy that you're now going to be a success story - think I would stop worrying at about 20 weeks but no sooner though!! I really want this mc to be over now and for my af to come back (one of the few times I want af!) then I think we will wait one cycle before trying again. That is interesting about the chinese herbs and accupuncture... Did they ever find a cause for you through tests or did you ever get the tissue tested on the 1st two mcs if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for your lovely message of hope! x x x

Can any of you lovely ladies help me with my next worry!!? I have a regular 27 day cycle (so I start bleeding for 4-5 days on CD28 if you see what I mean) and usually see an LH surge on CD 14 and 15 but it usually tapers off on CD 15. Does that compare to any of your cycles? This means that my luteal phase is around 12 days and i'm concerned that's not enough or I ovulate too late. Will ask the specialist next week but wondered if anyone could tell me their cycle beforehand. Thanks so much x x

Dear filipenko32,

Thank you for your lovely words of encouragement:hugs:

I really hope that this one will be fine God willing.

I know how you feel about wanting the miscarriage to be over and for your AF to come back. I was so happy to see AF after each loss as it meant it was only a matter of days until I could start trying again. You will know when the time is right, but as some of the other ladies here have said, make sure you take time to grieve.

The hospital ran tests to check my hormone levels and sent me for a scan to check my follicle count but they said that everything came back fine.

:nope:The hospital did not run tests on the tissue as I miscarried at home both times. I don't think they looked at the tissue for the ectopic.

The Chinese Herbal Specialist said that I had either a kidney Ying or Yang deficiency (I can't remember now) and that my blood was stagnant. She also said that my flow of energy was being blocked, hence the acupuncture.

Take care :hugs:

Thanks Yazzar, did you decide to wait a lot longer this time or did it just take a bit longer to fall pregnant? Sorry for all the questions! x x

Dear filipenko32,

It's OK, I don't mind the questions.

I waited a couple of months after the operation so that I could heal physically and mentally and then after that I was really busy with work etc, so I ended up having a 5-6 month break.

Hey hang in there and dont give up! I also had 3 miscarriages..my last one was right before i fell pregnant with this bump which is now 27+2 :) i did go to boots and buy myself some 75 baby aspirin and i also ordered wellsprings natural progesterone cream off the internet! Id read soo much about early m/c being due to low progesterone and when i webt to docs at around 7 weeks, they tested and mine was v high (i can only presume it was the cream) but anyways he said its never a bad thing to have high pro during pregnancy as its supports and maintains..plus its a natural cream.. So hope thats helpful and works for u if you try it; so far so good for me and hopefully no more angel babies for me or u! Xx

Thanks so much for this message of hope, I love reading success stories and i'm so glad it's working out for you now! :happydance::happydance: SO sorry you had to go through so much to get to where you are now, it's not fair is it? Heard so much about Aspirin and how great it is. I can only think about getting pregnant again now, how long did you wait after your last mc to get pregnant successfully now if you don't mind me asking? With my last mc I got pregnant on the 1st cycle after it & now i'm not so sure that was a good idea. But for the 2nd mc we waitied 2 clear cycles so seems like I can't win! Also did you get pregnant quickly? Thanks so much and sorry for all the questions - I'm feeling pretty desperate!! x x:flower:

Hey no problem..its not fair no, people who abuse their bodies with all sorts fall pregnant all the time and have babies taken off them, yet we suffer an struggle to keep one :-/

There was a wait between each mc except this one, i mc and fell pregnant 2 weeks later (positive test at only 7dpo first tym ever!!!) i dont know why i felt my body would be prepared better straight away? We did fall pregnant quickly but has been times when i hadnt! I do think u r probably more fertile straight away!!

Oh and i almost fOrgot..i also took a viteman b complex... So everday took one of them, one baby aspirin and used a little bit of prog cream... All self prescribed but available to buy over the counter!! And my research and self prescribed bits and pieces helped me more than the doctors did who just put things down to ba luck!! Xx

Jumping in here late. I've been lucky in that I haven't had to experience the heartbreak of a miscarriage, but my cousin had 2 second trimester miscarriages (around 14 weeks) and is now at 19 weeks. I think she got a bit of progesterone help.

Hi all,

Just an update. I went for a scan last night and was fully expecting the doctor to say there was still a yolk sac at 7 weeks and so it's not a viable pregnancy (this is my '3rd miscarriage' so you can see how much I was expecting it to happen!!) Anyway, there is a heartbeat now but it's not as high as the doctor would like so he has put me on steroids in case it's the immune system attacking it. I don't have a great deal of hope but I have a scan next week to see if has increased. Anyone got any stories of increasing heartbeats? x x

Awww wow! Dont give up hope! The fact that it has developed and they are gicing you something is brilliant! My docs were hopeless and didnt do anything to even try to help!!! Basicalluy they wud do tests after and treat me "next tym" i fell pregnant!! I hope it woeks an ur bean is sticky through this for u!! Xx

Thanks, scan is next Friday so i'll update! If it is a least still beating by then that will be the furthest I ever got. Think if things turn out for the worst though, I will d&c and have chromosomes tested if I can. x :hugs: Then next time I will self-prescribe like you!

Dear filipenko32,

I really hope that this pregnancy succeeds. I will be thinking of you!

All the very best :hugs:

I had 5 miscarriages from Dec 2009-Jan 2011 all pre 7 weeks. I had testing at St Mary's and they came up with some unspecified clotting problem for which I take 150mg of aspirin from positive pregnancy test to 36 weeks. I'm currently 36+5 and all is going ok so far, so there is hope :hugs:

Thanks for this, do you know what the name of the clotting problem was? Congratulations on your pregnancy now :hugs: x

I don't, it's just a "raised clot strength" when they do a thromboelastogram  so it's not one with a name that's been discovered yet or is just some randomness with my blood :)

Thanks x xx
