Hey ladies could you please tell me what to do...my LO has been having a bottl rather than a boob at night as he tends to sleep better and doesnt cry as much...however during the day when he is on my boob he seems to be constantly hungry and crying constantly...so i am thinking of bottle feeding him on a permenant basis however how do i stop my boobs from being painful and getting engorged whilst i do stop...how do i get the baby on permenant bottle? My LO is 8 weeks old...??

Hi Lady,

My LC advised that feeding at night boosts supply (tried and tested) and if you stop feeding at night, your supply will drop rapidly. Added to this, if you give him the bottle it doesn't signal your body to produce as much as is required. If you just can't breast feed him at night, can you try expressing at night?

It isn't as effective as feeding and some of us don't have much success expressing, but it might make a difference and boost your supply so he isn't hungry during the day on the boob?

The theory is that if you cut down gradually... a feed at a time... then it should dry up naturally and should ease themselves.

I had to stop suddenly and I was given some tablets from my doc to dry up my supply.
