Hi all! This is my first time posting here. I just have a quick question. My husband and I live on the third floor of an apartment building. We LOVE our fresh air, but our downstairs neighbor LOVES smoking right below us on her balcony. The smell literally fills our apartment and it is so frustrating! The worst is at night because she tends to go out every 15-20 minutes and this could go on until 11 at night. I guess my question is how much can her second hand smoke effect our chances of TTC? Needless to say I am thinking about every aspect of things. We have been trying going on 4 months now and I am trying to be as healthy as possible. Any and all input is much appreciated!!!!Thanks ladies!

Honestly I would mention it to your landlord. Let them know that your neighbors cig smoke is filling your apartment and see if something can be done with your air conditioning unit. Unfortunately the landlord can't force her to move. Find out too if there's a "no smoking" policy and if there is report it. I hate to say it but if nothing else I would move if I could and find a place that has a "no smoking" policy. I hope you find a solution :/

This is why I'm glad I live in CA....at least all the apartments we lived in we had a no smoking policy!

I would be more worried about the second hand smoke affecting my health then TTC. Think of back in the days when everyone smoked all the time, even pregnant.

Would it be possible to close the doors when she is out there? Or would it get too hot?

Thanks girls! We do close the doors a lot now, it just becomes annoying unfortunately because it is so often. I wish they had a no smoking policy. We have talked to the office about it and there is nothing they can do. I am definitely worried about my health because every time I smell it now I get so sick to my stomach. I guess that's why I wonder whether it poses a threat to my fertility because it is definitely a normal health risk with second hand smoke. Thanks again!

I get sick to my stomach too, so I really feel for you. I get an instant headache whenever anyone around me is smoking and I have to walk away.

Hate to suggest this - but are you guys able to move?

We are stuck here until next July unless we break the lease and pay a big amount to break it. It is definitely doable but it is a shame because this place is beautiful and such a nice neighborhood where I feel safe at night if I happen to be walking in alone (my husband is a marine so he is gone sometimes).
