I had my midwife appointment today and she checked my fundal height which was just above my belly button.

I read that it was guide as 20 weeks belly button mark, or can this change depending on your actually length of your body/stomach?

I just wanted some advice on fundal heights really, i'm a little bit worried about having a big baby again. x

she def shouldnt be measuring your fundus yet, its too early and is not precise so dont worry :)

Thats only the height of your uterus hunny, it wont be the size of the baby.
I had mine measured at 16wks. x

Its not supposed to be acurate untill 25-26ish weeks

Its not where they measure it with a tape measure, thats from 28wks.
This is just where the mw palpates your tummy to see if its about the correct
height for your stage of pregnancy. only a rough guide really and the OP's
MW should have explain that to her. x

Thanks posting this rachel i was wondering this too as mines on my belly button.... :)

but then i have had big babies too , and always carry gallons of water lol, so always grow quick!!:)

Hi :flower: we don't get that checked until 28 weeks pregnant

I'm 17 weeks and mine is sometimes up to my belly button and sometimes a couple of centimetres below. I have long torso though xx

it can vary on different people hun at my midwife appointment she said 'ah right 20 weeks are you?' UM NO lol she was like 'hmm well baby is growing VERY well' lol yet i still haven't got a bump or feeling kicks or anything? i think it must vary between different people xx

I had mine checked at 17weeks and it measured 19cm.

I've read that midwives used to use this method to calculate how far along you are in your pregnancy and that it is quite accurate for under 20weeks.

It's measured from the pubic bone to the top of the uterus, 1cm for every week of pregnancy. If the measurement is between minus 2 or plus 2 then that indicates the dates are right. So at 17 weeks you should be in between 15-19cm.

My midwife always put FH=Dates on my notes. Then at 25 weeks she started measuring with a tapemeasure :) I measured 31 today and 29 two weeks ago, so perfect for dates (1cm ahead really) but growing at the right speed it seems :)
