Why is my 8 weeks old baby so fussy while breastfeeding during the day??? It looks like he is at war with my nipples!!! I dont even think he can get enough milk like that! Could it be gas?? Or my supply is too low or too fast?? I dont know but it only happens during the day..at night he breastfeeds quietly and nicely....i love breastfeeding but not when he seems to be playing with my nipples! Any ideas? Any Suggestions to stop this????

Have you tried feeding in a dark room during the day?

My LO (although bottle fed) sometimes messes around with the bottle during the day and I take him into a dark room and he feeds with no problem, so worth a go. Hope it helps

My lo does this too, tugging on my nipples (painfully). In his case it is gas and reflux. I burp him every time he pops off and it usually helps.

Snap, for us it is wind and I suspect reflux as he sicks up A LOT. I've started using infacol and it improved slightly, his weight gain is fine it's just very frustrating. I dont know why he's so much better at night. BF always used to make DS1 sleep, but usually it's not until DS2 has been winded and cuddled that he calms down.

Exactly my lo too!! I think it might be better at night because he is sleepy so he is not guzzling down milk. Also the dark probably relaxes him and there are no distractions.

I'm afraid to say my little man was like this from the same age and it never really got better! There was no reason for it and he takes a bottle fine without the fussing, but he is just a fussy feeder when it came to the breast. X

I gave a bottle of expressed milk last night and he was exactly the same :(

My baby is fussy at the breast as well, and my lactation nurse said it was due to his lip tie/tongue tie. He also spits up a lot, and she said this can happen with tie as well because they can't control the flow as well/get too much air in there. With us it makes sense and we are making an appointment with a specialist to get him evaluated to see what we can do. Its just frustrating because hes gaining weight fine, but hes so fussy, and my nipples hurt because his latch is wonky and no one caught it until two months old. We saw many nurses and he saw his doctor twice during this time and no one noticed it. :dohh:

Either way I guess its not something many look for anymore, but it might be something to look into for you. If they have it its totally fixable.

Mine is too, I have to stand up and rock and feed at the same time! At night she's a champ. I thought my milk supply was low so gave her a bottle and she drank it very happily :( I'll try the dark room idea.

My son is fussy bf a lot of feeds. He's being seen for suspected reflux by the paediatrician next week. He arches and pulls away when feeding and cries, brings up some milk then cries then wants to feed.
