I am exactly 14 weeks today and went for a private scan because my 12 week nhs one was awful (rude sonographer who didn't tell us anything and couldn't get accurate measurements). The Dr was great and was carrying out the scan when she asked if we would be finding out the gender. We said yes and she said would we like her to tell us what it is. Of course we said yes and she said she is more than 90% certain its a boy! Obviously I'm not going to go out on a crazy blue shopping spree until confirming at 20 weeks but would you trust this? It seems too early to know but she was adamant!

I would trust it much more than if they'd have said girl. Boy 'bits' are usually pretty obvious! Mine was confirmed as a boy at 15+1 for that reason..! (And has been confirmed twice since). Congratulations on your little boy :)

Personally, I would not trust it. I think it is far too soon to be accurate. Not that I am saying it isn't. I think your best bet is to wait until 20weeks. :D

^^^^^^^^ what memmaj said! If they would have said girl, I would be a lot less trusting but when I questioned my private sonographer at 16 weeks if she was 100% sure it was a boy she said "I've never seen a girl with a penis" ;) she had been doing this for over 20 years.

With my first baby I was told boy by two different sonographers at 12 and 13 weeks. At 16 weeks my doctor confirmed a girl. This time the doctor said girl at 12 weeks, I can't wait for my 16 week scan next week to confirm this.

I would trust her. Apparently by 14 weeks it's pretty accurate IF they get a good look, the baby is in the right place with its legs a part and they also said the size of the mothers affects the image too. I had one at 14 weeks for the same reasons as you and she said she's absolutely sure it's a girl. She showed me the three white lines, looked girly to me and completely different to my DS scan! I think babies also grow at different down there too. I feel the same as you though, I won't actually believe it until the 20 week scan, or perhaps until the baby is born! Glad you had a positive experience 🐣😊

I was given a guess of girl at my nt scan on the NHS, I was 14+2. They showed me and I definitely couldn't see a penis but I had it confirmed privately at 16+6 and again at 20+2.

Again I didn't trust it as it was just a guess but if they had said boy I would probably have trusted it tbh!

I found out with my GIRL at 13+5 or so. And it was spot on. They told me how sure they were. I didn't paint the nursery or anything but it was fun getting ideas and maybe getting an item here or there. 12 weeks is when bits start forming, at 13 they start being discernible, by 14? She's probably right :) congrats on your team blue!!

I'm going to a place this Saturday that has a 99% guarantee from 14 weeks. Of course if they can't tell at that appointment they reschedule at no cost, and if they're wrong (like I find out at 20 week they told me wrong) I get my money back. Hopefully they're right!

I had the NT screening ultrasound at 13+5 at a major university hospital medical center. They informed me they had done a large scale study on the accuracy of gender predication (by trained techs) at these 12-14 week ultrasounds. They were successful 85% of the time in that study. So pretty close the to 90% your doc said. FWIW, my tech predicted boy for me, and she was indeed correct.

We found out we are having a boy at 14+4 and have had it confirmed twice now, its easier to tell with a boy :)

Thanks ladies, seems like we are team blue then! 😍

At my 14 week NT scan, the tech told us girl (which I was hoping for!) and said she was 90 percent sure, but I couldn't trust it till it was confirmed at 20 weeks.
