After jumping back and forth between :yellow: or finding out DH and I have decided that when we have our u/s we'll have the tech write it down and get a cake or cupcakes to then share with our family what baby will be. I figured instead of a huge party we'll just keep it a simple bbq at the local park with burgers and hot dogs and of course cake! I found a free printable online so I'll stick to simple diy and since we'll be at the park I'm not going to look into decorations or anything. Although I would love a board with old wives tale predictions and some type of garb that guests could wear to show their guess at what baby will be.

Anyone who did a gender reveal, who did you invite and what did you do for it?

Right now I'm planning on parents, grandparents, siblings and our best friends. I'd like to invite a couple of aunts/uncles who have been checking in on how I'm doing and asking if we know the gender yet but that gets our guest list up higher than a small casual family bbq. What do you ladies think?

That's such a lovely idea!! Were finding out on Monday and I'd love to be able to do something like that!
I say as it's at the park, invite whoever you want as many as you want! If it was at your place or a venue id say keep it small but hey might aswell make a day of it!! Xxxx

That's an idea :) Our families rarely mingle together, so it would be kind of fun to just have an excuse to have a bbq and get everyone together!

How exciting that you're finding out on Monday!! I feel like we have ages to go still since we wont be finding out until the date of the party and DH's parents only have a specific date they can do it at this moment.

Our families don't mingle either! I'd love to throw a little party and get everyone together but I work weekends and everyone else works weekdays so there would be no good time to do it!
When's your scan? We booked a private gender scan as we're far too impatient haha! 4 more sleeeeps!!! Xxx

That's a bummer, I'm not sure who would be able to come or not but it's a big deal for at least my in laws to be there so they picked the date lol.

We'll be booking it next week after my midwife appointment so I don't even know when the scan will be! Although we wont be finding out at the scan, we'll be waiting to do it with family.

DH and I know the gender but no one else does. So we decided to combine the shower and gender reveal (to family and friends). We are inviting just family and friends, and keeping it small. Inviting around 50 - 60 people and expecting about 40 to show up (including kids).

Wow that's your small?? Haha 50 people is everyone at our wedding! Small for us would be like 10 people haha! We don't have very big families... Lol!
I really want to do something exciting but I know I'll be too excited and blurt it out to everyone haha! Xxx

It's tough having a large family:haha: Although we're not getting anywhere near 50. Right now I'm looking to invite 22 people and I thought that was huge for just a gender reveal!

That's sweet that you're doing a combo of a baby shower and revealing the gender :) I won't be having my shower until October.

50 is definitely small, and those 50 are close family and a few friends. Of the 40 we are expecting to arrive, our normal weekend get together gang is almost 15 people. Another 5 from family section might fly in. The other 20 are mostly DH's friends and their kids.

DH has a huge family. His mom is one of 7 kids and his dad is one of 7 or 8 kids to their parents. So he has plenty of uncles/aunts and cousins. To my surprise, he actually keeps up with all of those cousins pretty regularly!

Wow that is a large family! I bet it makes the holiday's a lot of fun :) Gosh now that's got me daydreaming of Thanksgiving dinner, yum!
