HI Beauts.

So, i had GD in my 1st pregnancy.

Luckily only diet controlled.

How many of you got it again in your 2nd pregnancy??

Can i do anything to help prevent it?? xx:hugs:xx

I had it in my first and second pregnancy. More than likely I will have it this time too...I'm just that lucky:rolleyes:

However, there are women that don't get it in every pregnancy. Hopefully you will be one of those women.

I had it with number 1 and told they wouldn't even test with next pregnancy as there is 95% chance of having it again. I am determined not to get it again. If I was you I would stick to a healthy diet like you did with your first pregnancy and make sure they test you rather than assume you will have it. Someone will be in the 5%. good luck xx

I had it (diet controlled) in my first pregnancy. I have no risk factors at all and got down to my pre pregnancy weight (8st 3lbs) before getting pregnant again.

I pretty much followed the GD diet from as soon as I knew I was pregnant, and monitored my sugars myself but at 20 weeks they started going a bit odd - now I am having to very very strictly follow the diet.

I guess maybe being as healthy as possible might help a bit - especially if it might have been a factor first time around - but I dont think you can do anything to 'stop' it happening again.

I feel much more in control this time - it didnt spring up on me like last time and I know not for one day has it been out of control. In that sense I feel like I am doing and have done everything I possibly can :hugs:

i just failed the 3 hour gtt test. With my third pregnancy I had GD , that was 10 years ago and this time I am eating so much more protein. Alas, I got it again. The doctor checked me in the beginning of my pregnancy so I know I didn't have it until later. That test is so horrible.

Dr. made me take the 3 hour to get actual levels. My levels don't require insulin. ( thank goodness) but will have to do the diet and monitor thing. I am already 30 weeks and 44 years old so it puts me in a high risk category , although nothing else strange is going on. I guess I am happy to have some additional monitoring to keep in check.

Trying to have a smaller baby and not gain anymore weight. I've gained 20 pounds and my last baby was 9.13. early born at 39. Trying to not have a c- section....I am 30 weeks.

I had GD with my 1st and now am 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and already have high blood sugar. My doctor was pretty much convinced I would have it again so rather than doing the GTT, he sent me to the nutritionist and set me up with a new meter. Lo and behold, here I am at 7 weeks, with pretty high fasting numbers (around 135 fasting) and finding it hard to control my post prandials when my fasting is that high. I go back Monday and will definitely be back on meds (took glyburide last time). I was so desperately hoping that with the 40 lb weight loss I had I could skip right over GD this time but I have it and very early on.

I had it with my first as well, and they sent me around 10 weeks to a nutritionist and I got a new meter too. So far mine are good, except when I pig out on large fries. I was able to control it mostly with diet so I'm hoping to do that well this time too. The benefit is after 28 weeks I get more frequent ultrasounds to check chest circumference so that's nice that I'll see baby more often.

I had borderline with my son and am currently testing my blood with this pregnancy.
I refused a gtt in favour of testing my bloods as I am still suffering with horrific sickness so really didn't want the drink.

My fasting results are high most mornings and bread sends my results sky high so not sure what they will do next week when I see them
