So we all know that when you google pregnancy things, you get a generic list of symptoms that could apply to anyone. If you've been diagnosed with GD, what were your symptoms? Did you feel anything or did your GD test just come back positive as a surprise?

I'm waiting on my results but I'm nervous as I have the majority of risk factors for developing it. Not finding anything weird except being really, really thirsty but I'm thinking that could just be a pregnancy thing. I've been thirsty since the start.

I haven't had my testing yet, but my sister had gd with both her pregnancies and she had no symptoms either time. Just failed the tests.

And I'm with you on the thirst thing. Especially when I wake up during the night.

I've read that there are usually no symptoms. I recently passed my first one, and I've been really thirsty since the start of my second trimester. Mostly in the evening and at night.

Good question. My thirst is making me crazy, it doesn't seem to get quenched by anything. I'm a ways from having the gd test but I'm curious.

Hi, northern_me. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my son. I was pretty much expecting it when my results came back. At around 24 weeks, I started feeling really sick (nauseous, weak, lightheaded, and REALLY thirsty) if I ate anything carb-y. I have diabetes in my family, so I knew what to look for. Before I even had my test, I bought a cheap blood sugar monitor and noticed my sugars were way higher than they were supposed to be. So yeah, when they called to tell me my results came back too high I was basically like, yeah I know, lol.
I guess some women don't have any symptoms at all, but my were really quite obvious.

I can't say if it is GD related, but whenever I ate too much sugar, it always gave me a headache.
I was insulin resistant before pregnancy though and had that problem so it could just be my bodies natural reaction to it without the diabetes.
Other than that though.... I can't think of any symptom in particular that I can link to GD.

My test results came back. I have to get the 2hr test done because my first test came back high. Great. I'm scared I'm going to throw up trying to fast and get the test done. I can't even make it out the door without getting sick before I leave in the morning, let alone go wait for bloodwork.

:( I'm sorry. At least it's only one day you have to worry about fasting.
