First, a small rant.

My doctor is a moron. When I went to him to confirm our pregnancy, he told me that no way would the hospital test for GD before 28 weeks when I asked about early testing.

I asked at my first hospital appointment and they gave me an appointment because of the extensive family history of diabetes. I'm 19 weeks.

The results came back positive.

I have been so tired that when I get home from work, I crawl into bed for a while, get up to eat, and go back to bed for the night. My wife is doing everything at the moment. Everything. I routinely burst into tears because of my uselessness.

Now I know why. And I'm a bit depressed (I do love my sweet things, and my birthday is on Wednesday!), but mostly relieved that it turns out I'm not a lazy asshole who is just content to sit back and watch my wife do all the work.

But yeah, I have an appointment next week to start treatment, or monitoring or whatever. Anyone with any experiences they can share? I know all the other women there today (it was the 3 hour test) were further along than I am, probably the 28 weeks my doctor thought was so important.

Maybe I'll get some of that lovely 2nd trimester energy everyone else talks about when I get on the diet?

I had gd in my last pregnancy and they had me monitoring my levels from 8 weeks this time.

Do you know how high your levels were after your test? If they werent too bad they will probably get you to alter your diet first and monitor your sugars and only if it starts to get worse will they look at metaformin or insulin. X

Sorry, duplicate post x

I have an insulin resistance so have gestational diabetes now that I am pregnant. I have been checking my blood four times a day since I was 8 weeks along and then started insulin injections at night at 10 weeks. It was a lot to take on at first and I was so upset that this was all happening. But now I know why I go through all the finger pokes and the injections and its very much worth it for out little baby. I too am always tired and thirsty but because of my high levels due to insulin resistance they are not new symptoms for me. Do not be hard on yourself. I am sure your wife understands. You are going through a lot right now...creating a human being! It will all be worth it in the end! Hang in there :flower:
