Gestational diabetes...

For those of you who had symptoms before you got diagnosed. Just wondering what your symptoms were... ?

Super duper thirsty, especially at night. I read that excessive thirst can be a sign of diabetes.

Like so thirsty it wakes u up? Or just whenever you wake ur thirsty?

I don't know if the thirst itself woke me up...I have to pee a lot so that wakes me up. But once I was up, the thirst was crazy.

Other than the excessive thirst, no other symptoms.

Why do you ask? Do you think you have it? Do you have a glucose tolerance test scheduled soon?

Yeh i have one booked next tuesday... i dunno whether im.jus being a hypochondriac or what because of that but for the last few days i have to eat every 2 hrs or i feel what i can only describe as anxious/jittery...havent had any symptoms stated by baby sites relating to gd. I drink alot of water anyway not necessarily because of thirst...

I dont know if the having to eat so often is because im alot more active wit my toddler this pregnancy plus approaching third tri now...suppose im jus lookin for reassurance

Btw the test was booked because i have fam history of type 2 diabetes plus im asian...which apparently makes it more.likely to happen

The signs of regular type 2 diabetes are the 3 poly's: polydipsia, polyuria, and polyphagia. Excess thirst, urination and hunger. I didn't have any symptoms when I tested for GD and have it, but I tested really early. I wouldn't worry too much about it, you either have it or not and you'll know soon enough!

I didn't have and symptoms either. But like you I'm also Asian so the chances of me getting it were greater. Good luck to you! Hope everything goes well.

I'm awaiting my results of the 3 hour glucose test from yesterday. I failed the 1 hour test. I'm so nervous as I'm also at a higher risk with this twin pregnancy. I do wake up at night soooo thirsty, but I accounted that due to sleeping with my mouth open because my sinus' are so swollen. I just have a bad feeling that I have it; all I eat is carbs. I have food aversions to everything else.
