I have my next scan tomorrow, which is 10 days from my last scan, because at the last scan, the ultrasound lady said that I was too early to see anything. What she DID say she saw was the yolk sac. She might have also said she saw the gestational sac, but if she did, I missed it. She was kind of going fast. She said the yolk sac measured 5 weeks and it was too early to see anything inside it. I wish I could remember now and I'll probably get my question answered when I go for my scan tomorrow, but is it normal to see just the yolk sac and not the gestational sac as well? It IS possible that she did also see the gestational sac and I just missed it but otherwise, is that normal? Lol so confusing. I didn't even realize they were different things until I started researching about it online. I'd be 6 weeks 3 days right now according to my last scan.

Hi, the yolk sac sits inside the gestation sac. It supports baby early on before the placenta takes over. Once you see the yolk sac within the gestation sac, its confirmation that it is indeed a pregnancy. At 5-6 weeks you can see the yolk sac but not necessarily the fetus yet as its too small.

So if she saw a yolk, she definitely saw a gestation sac :)

Yay! That's why she said something like, "Well, you are pregnant!" Thanks for your reply, that makes me happy and a little less nervous about my scan tomorrow.

Yep the yolk sac is inside the gestation sac, today we seen all of that plus a teeny tiny fetal pole but no heartbeat yet. So hoping next scan we get to see a heartbeat of bubs decides to hang on, fingers crossed.
Good luck with your scan can't wait to hear all about it :)
