My LO is almost one year old, so he isnt EBF. I was wondering if this was okay to do or if i should wait tell he is full of the boob. Thanks for all the advice:flower:

I checked this out with hv and breastfeeding specialists and was told as long as the tattooist is a proper one, sterilised and licensed there is no problem while bf. x

You might run into problems finding someone that will do it. The chances of infection are very, very low if proper aftercare is taken, but some shops won't risk getting sued on the off chance an infection from a tattoo/piercing affected a nursing baby.

If you can find a reputable place that will do it, and you wouldn't have a problem putting breastfeeding on hold if you for whatever reason thought you might have an infection, then I say go for it. :)

This is from kellymom:

"There is no evidence that getting a tattoo will affect breastfeeding. There should be no harm to mom or baby from the dyes injected. If you get a tattoo, the biggest concern for anyone (not just nursing moms) is infection (hepatitis or HIV)– so make sure the place you go has good references and is clean."
