Getting musty smell out of silk dress?

Anyone any ideas?

It's a dress I've had for a while but have never worn, it really is lovely but it's been hanging in my wardrobe and now has a sort of stale and musty smell.

I left it to the dry cleaners to see if that would make a difference but it still smells the same

Have you tired simply airing it outside?, that works a treat for most things

That was the first thing I tried, it seemed fresher straight away but that ol musty smell crept back in again

I was positive the dry cleaners would sort it out

How about packing it away in a box or carrier bag with a few tumble drier sheets? I've never tried this, but remember I used to use tumble drier sheets in my drawers to keep clothes smelling fresh.

I was going to suggest fresh air too - how long was it outside for? You could always give it a longer go

After a spray of Febreeze, a full day airing and being bagged up last night with a Lenor sheet I *think* it's made a difference, thanks!!!

Just back from having a smell of it

Mustiness is gone!!!!!! And my spare room smells like Lenor so all in all a very successful mission!!!!!
