Seems like I'm getting aches everywhere but this one isn't shifting. Just need your help ladies to make sure it's ok. If I look down at my belly, my left side of my belly is hurting but it's not exactly my belly but rather above, just before my abdomen. The pain comes out of nowhere and at that moment I can't talk or move until it subsides, few seconds later.

Is this normal? I haven't had this before and I'm 19 weeks. I have an anterior placenta and was wondering if baby is just pressing on something? Or should I be concerned? Thank you

I get this if I eat something wrong. I am sensitive to Gluten and eating too much starch and especially since pregnancy I really have to avoid them.
When I am not pregnant, and eat a lot of Gluten I get these really painful spots in my intestines. If I push down on it or make a wrong move it takes my breath away because it is such a weird pain.
Until recently I was able to eat some Gluten when out..Starbucks Cookies, a quick bakery item. But the painful spots would worsen throughout pregnancy. First they were just there, then I noticed them shifting above my belly. I had to completely stop eating certain things because with my intestines being smushed it became more painful.

Maybe it is some sort of food related problem for you too. In which case an elimination diet can help figure out what it is. Gluten did not cause immediate worsening for me so it was very hard to figure out and Standard Tests only catch one type of Gluten Intolerance.

I have found that gas pains sometimes feel totally different now that I'm pregnant. They can be really SPECIFIC locations and last days with various strengths from uncomfortable to almost doubled over in pain.

One of the best tips I've gotten in pregnancy (other than my cousin who said her only tip was to ignore everyone's tips and comments and pressure! LOL) was to know that all kinds of crazy twinges, pains, pulls, ouches, pressure feelings and loads of other words that describe weird feelings in the stomach, abdomen and sides are all TOTALLY normal.

It does sound like a diet-related problem! I know this happens to me when I'm not pregnant, and it's always because of something I ate. I would check with doc about it just to be safe, but the whole digestive system is kind of getting pressed on/kicked/moved around/etc. with the LO invading all its space! lol. I would also be careful with an elimination diet if you choose to go that route, just because they can be very restrictive! Hope this pain goes away for you soon!

Elimination diet means you eliminate one food at a time. It is not about restriction. It's like cutting out lactose for a week to see if it helps, then Gluten the next week, nightshades, nuts. common irritants. You don't eliminate all at once because you would not be able to tell what causes it.
