Hey ladies! I wanted to get opinions on something. DH has ED due to hypertension. He can usually get there by masturbating some along with intercourse, but a lot of the time he gets the timing wrong and he misses. :haha: So, here is my question. If I bought needless syringes and a specimen cup, could I inseminate myself if he came into the cup? I was just curious. My sex drive is really touch and go, and he works 40+ hours a week and is tired. We really want a baby, and we have been trying for almost 3 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is a unique solution... There are two thoughts I have about that and the first is I would think if his sperm count is good, there is no reason why you could not inseminate yourself, but high blood pressure could potentially affect the count so I don't know how effective it will be.

That said, have you considered using a turkey baster instead? I would think since they are both a bit longer as well as more slender, it could be more effective. If it was me, I would start using ovulation predictor kits (you can get a pack of 40 predictor kits plus 10 pregnancy tests for like $10.00 on amazon). This way, when you start seeing the faint lines, you can start inseminating every two days or whatever.....

I don't have personal experience with this, but I have seen a few ladies on here do similar things when there were barriers to conceiving the "old fashioned" way. I agree that you'll want to have a semen analysis done for him, because you wouldn't want to go through all that trouble if there is something that might be prohibiting conception (have you chatted with your doctor about the trouble you're having?). I have used a turkey baster when I was doing a yeast infection treatment (long story!) and I def. think a syringe would be easier. The turkey baster gets all sorts of bubbles in it because it is so large, and it is hard to squirt everything in it out... and you don't want to waste any of that stuff, especially since there is only a few tablespoons max :winkwink:

Here are two threads you could read thru for tips, suggestions, etc. Obviously you wouln't have to worry about finding a sperm donor so you're already a step ahead!

Thanks to both of you! Those threads really helped! I appreciate the advice!

You can buy an insemination kit online. Don't waste you time or money on anything else, it will be the size and shape you need. Just remember not to go into the cervix just close to it. Lots of women have done it and it works out great if there are no real issues. Good luck
