Getting pregnant with no period?

Hi all.... some advice would be great...
is it possible to get pregnant without having periods? I have been reading that you can Ovulate even if AF isn't happening each month. is this right?

I am sooooo desperate to get pregnant.. but my periods are AWOL since January !! I came off BC in Nov, had a period in Jan and nothing since. Please help... We'd love to have a baby NOW... its totally stressing me out...

Any thoughts xxx

Hi, not sure tbh. I suppose you can ovulate at any time but you would have to have a period at some point i would imagine as the body expells it...but you could still get pregnant and have a period after, even now. What is BC? .

Sorry, what i mean is you could still ovulate and have a period after..or if you got pregnant, you wouldnt get a period!!! Have you tested?

A zillion tests!! All negative. had hormone tested and all ok apparently... doc told me to come back in 18 months if period didn't come. Some people just don't get it huh!!

Its so frustrating...

thanks hun... I did.. a few weeks ago. they tested hormone levels and came back normal. She told me to come back in 18 months if AF hadn't come back. I can't wait that long.... I'm so impatient... and besides I'll be 34 then - and I would like a couple of babies if I can .... thats if I can!

hi, i had my implant out 5 weeks ago, i havent had a period for 2years, so im waiting for it to arrive since havin implant out, but the doctor said i could get pregnant before my period arrives,so the answer to ur question is yes u can still get pregnant without a period x

Why cant she give you something to kickstart your period? Have you told her you are ttc???? I mean its a bit much asking you to wait that long isnt it?

I did tell her. she just said to wait 18 months and that they wouldn't even talk to me about it unless I was trying for 2 years. I mean so insensitive... I was practically in tears in the surgery telling her that we are ttc

my dr also knows i had my implant out cuz we want to ttc, she said my period could take up to 6months to show. i have also been wondering if i could "kick start" my periods, but then i think do i really wanna do tht? y not let nature take its course....

im very very very impatient lol

ITs funny because there are definitely times when you'd want your period to not be around.. it can be such a pain.. but right now - I'd actually be thankful so I'd know things were working. I know what you mean about patience! x

That must be REALLY frustrating! You will know never to go back on that again! Mind you, when i came off the pill, they say that it can take that long too. Infact, i had my withdrawal and then no AF after that because i was pregnant!!!! So you have every chance! x

I know quite a bit about this as i didnt have a period for about 5 years...
I had all the tests and they couldnt find anything wrong they would not give me anything to start my period and climod didnt work they think the reason i didnt have them was becaure i had an eating disorder in my teans and did not weigh what my ideal weight was and i also did loads of sports had 0 body fat.
Some swimmers and athleats get it.
I was told by my docter that at least i didnt have to buy tampax

Anyway to cut a long story short i ended up having IVF.

As the only way you can catch if you dont have a period will be if you ovulate withought knowing ... but you will get a period if you ovulate ... i mean you cant ovulate and not get periods its not possable.

to the post above..that was exactly what i was saying. If you ovulate, you will get your period..but you can ovulate and get pregnant and it may seem like your body isnt doing anything.,,However if you ovulate, and you dont fall, you will get your period.

I understand... I'm so impatient. Spoilt I guess lol always have my own way... so waiting is so frustrating when yo want it now!
I've been off my pill nearly 3 weeks and still no AF just lots of cramping pains in my ovaries :-/
We're still trying in the hopes I'll ovulate and catch. I'm hopeful, I have to be!

If I'd have known about all this trouble when ttc after the pill (especially cerazette, the one I was on) I'd have never taken it and never will again.

Keep testing though. I was on the pill for years and years, came off it, had my withdrawal and literally fell pregnant. I wasnt sure whether my af was never coming back...and then i tested..so you never know.x

hi im in the same boat as you!! i came off bc in nov had my last period jan 11th and im on day 126!! but i still have hope ..... 2006 i had my last peroid jan the 5th no preiod after that( i did like 15 tests all came back -) then i did a test april the 3rd and it came back BFP!! i was only 3w.5 days as i had to go for a scan to find out how far along i was they said i o'd on day 75.. so it can happen.

Yes it can happen. My last period was in early December 2008 and I got s shocker BFP at 4 weeks on March 17th, 2009!

Have you considered going to a private fertility specialist? I believe that the NHS (if you're in the UK) is pretty adamant on waiting til you've been trying for quite a while.

My periods r crazy. An OB told me once, it's not IMPOSSIBLE, but it can be more difficult to. My OB put me on progesterone to kick start it, and he's gonna do blood tests.
