Girl's Names?

Hi all,

We were convinced that we were expecting a boy but found out last night, it's a girl! We're absolutely over the moon!! We had firmly decided on Toby for a boy but can't decide on one girl's name.

We seem to like quite traditional names but I also don't want anything too common - we have ruled Olivia out for this reason. I like Amelie and Lily but OH isn't keen. OH also seems to have a problem with names that sound too babyish - I love Poppy, Daisy etc but he says he can't imagine a woman with that kind of name - grrr, how annoying!

Can anyone make any suggestions?

i was in same position - gut feeling it was boy and easily agreed on Jacob, then found out team pink and OH and I couldnt agree on anything. I like Amelie, Freya, Millie, really like Norah but doesnt sound right with surname. He likes Charlotte, Lucy, Elizabeth etc .

So Im thinking Martha (maybe Rose as middle name) and OH is getting keener by the day - i love it, not popular yet traditional.

Martha Rose would have been Joseph's middle names had he been a girl :flower: Are you a Doctor Who fan too?

not really, is there a Martha Rose in Dr Who? didnt know that...

There's not a Martha Rose but when the new series started a couple of years back the first of the new assistants was Rose and she was followed by Martha, then Donna (played by the really annoying Catherine Tate) and now Amelia/Amy.

I was teasing my DH when I first said I was going to call the baby after Doctor Who characters.

My boys choice (just to upset him) was Doctor Tardis John Smith Timelord and my girls choice was Martha Rose Gallifrey Dalek. Then I decided that I really loved Martha Rose and wanted to use them as middle names but without the Gallifrey Dalek part. :winkwink:

If I was pregnant now I'd still consider them as middle names but with Amelia added on too.

Hiya
In my school Amalie and Lily are more popular than Olivia....
I love Olivia....

Oooh, must be posh then! My Mum suggested looking through Harper's Bazarre for name ideas as they're all really unusual and regal!
