Lol hope that title didn't offend anyone!

I was just wondering if parents of both sexes found that their girls reach physical milestones slower than the boys did?

Maybe its because Pops and No are twins and therefore I can compare but Poppy is not doing the same as Noah. Noah is rolling over fully, grabbing things and putting them in his mouth, eating purees and is generally alot bigger etc. Poppy is an IUGR baby though and I know that can affect it but she's only staying on here back, and grasping some things.

Anyone else noticed it? xxx

lol where did you get this from :) Girls usually pick up faster, better at school etc :) Bella met all milestones 2-4 weeks in advance (and it's driving me nuts since it's rolling around/getting stuck period every two minutes).

I wouldn't worry really, little Poppy will get there when she gets there and the good thing she can now copy her brother and she will!!

I thought that boys usually meet physical milestones earlier, while girls usually talk earlier.
But I don't know so much about smaller milestones that I would be able to tell you which Ruby met early and which late, I only know she is an early talker but late walker!

I only have boys so can't compare but I think it really depends on the child not their sex. Like even between my 3 boys they were quite different, my oldest was pretty early to do things, sitting up unaided at 4mo, crawling at 6mo, walking at 9mo but then didn't potty train until 2.5 for day and 3 for night. But my middle son who is extremely bright, even for his age now he's very advanced in that sense took longer to reach those same physical milestones. He sat up at 5mo, army crawled at 7mo but not on his hands and knees until 11mo, walked at 14.5mo but then potty trained day and night at 25mo. He also talked much sooner and a lot better than my older one. I think their brains just focus on different things, they learn differently.

hi hun..i have boys and girls of different ages, ranging from 17 to 6 weeks.my 2 youngest are girls..and judging by isabelles development(she is 4 now)she was an awful lot quicker.things like potty training, talking, coordination ect but my girls have not grown as quick as boys.so physicaly my boys were quicker and in more of a mental development my girls were quicker.
xx

Typically its girls are faster than boys, but as always.. every baby is an individual! Nolan seems to be about 2 weeks behind babycenter.com on a lot of things, but I try not to worry because he will catch up!

WIth 5 girls and 4 boys, i would say that girls are faster, but all kids are different x

my boys always walked alot sooner than my girl..she was almost 18mnth before she walked in a fasion..my 2nd eldest son was 8 months old when he took his 1st steps:wacko:

jasper walked at 9mths, makena at 10mths. jasper spoke, crawled, sat, potty trained earlier but my daughter has a developmental delay, so I try not to compare.

I always always thought girls were generally faster in developing than boys (i'm not being biased because i have a girl btw lol) i'm sure she'll catch up very soon hun xx

I was told girls are faster than boys, but personally i think it depends on the child!

Daisy seems a little slow with her physical milestones to me but is always spot on or ahead with any social or emotional ones. I teach 4 year olds and boys generally seem more ahead with their large motor skills (running, jumping, climbing etc) while girls seem quicker at grasping the fine motor skills (pencil and scissor control etc).

Ive always heard that boys are slower than girls??

I dont know though lol I only have one and he is a boy xx

Hannah was and still is a very physical child. I think it really depends on the baby :)

Daisy is also slow for her age, only in the last few days learnt to sit up alone and roll onto her tummy :hugs: xxx

I've had 2 boys and a girl.. one boy did everything months in advance, the other boy did everything a month or so behind, and my girl id everything a few weeks in advance.. hope taht makes sense lol!

Now they're all at school, and all 3 of them are 2-3 years ahead academically than they should be for their age!

for my kids dd1 was much faster at hitting milestones then ds. it really does depend on the baby though. dd1 was a super achiever and ds was hitting milestones right on schedule but it seemed so slow compared to dd1. i cant wait to see where meira fits in.

Not sure its anything to do with gender I think all babies are different x
My sister has 2 girls. While the eldest was better intellectually/mentally like talking & being able to count to 10 at 15 months etc her youngest was better at the physical stuff like rolling over, sitting up, crawling & walking a lot sooner than her older sister.

think that makes sense lol x

It may be true but then Lexi has to be an exception, she is already crawling and now also trying to pull herself up in standing position. She is a very quick learner, I even would like to slow her down a bit, lol.

as a general rule of thumb.... boys hit physical milestones earlier than girls. girls tend to speak quicker than boys.... however theyre all different! no worries
