Girls slower than boys?

ooh lord the thing with twins is the comparisons isnt it!! I am trying and failing miserably not to compare my two. They are sooo different so its nothing to do with sex - both are lazy little whatsits but I am betting Sam walks first and Fynn talks first xxx

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I think because I have had two at once I'm just comparing them and I'm sure Poppy will catch up :) I'm at bit of a neurotic mother at the mo ha! xxx

I am a bit neurotic at the moment too. I keep reading what other people's babies can do by Daisy's age and she can't do a lot of the things and I keep getting over anxious! When I read the milestones on websites and in books she's well within the limits of what she should be doing but it seems like other people's babies can physically do so much more!

Every kid is different.

Helena was super advanced, crawled at 4 months, walked at 9. Talks nonstop, counts, sings songs, etc before 2.

They all catch up to each other. :D

I think we all do - I find myself 'assuming' the later baby is slow not the first one being advanced. Like when Sam got teeth at five months I was stressing that Fynn was delayed where as Sam was early. I try not to google what they are supposed to be doing. I go to the HV every month and tell her what they do and she tells me if thats ok lol. My major stress was sams flat head but yay thats popping out more and more each day - now next neurosis? THEY DONT SIT UP YET AARRGGHHH lazy little monkeys

I always though that boys were faster to pick up the gross motor skills whereas girls were faster with the fine motor skills. I think it's something to do with evolution....boys need to be off hunting with Dad, whereas girls need to be helping mum to pick berries

Either way, I've only got Earl to take a judgement from, and he seems to be pretty much on track and is starting to get onto talking now....He doesn't however seem to want to let go of furniture lol, and is quite happy to walk with one hand, but wont hold a spoon anymore :dohh:

I think every child develops differently and it's just their personalities that dictate what the priority is and that's what they focus on first.

Lol Poppy's head is flat to! Before I had them I didnt realise it could happen lol I was in tears thinking it was something terrible lol! And now Noah is growing some hair ( finally!) and Poppy is still bald :( its so hard being a mother lol! xxx

While Willow is my only child my close friend has a son only 15 hours older than Willow . She's always been a bit ahead of him physically , rolled over sooner , crawled sooner , walked sooner . However he's always been a bit ahead of her as far as talking goes .

I thought that boys usually meet physical milestones earlier, while girls usually talk earlier.
But I don't know so much about smaller milestones that I would be able to tell you which Ruby met early and which late, I only know she is an early talker but late walker!

I've heard this too. My LO is like a rocket, climbing everywhere and nearly walking. My friend's LO (girl), who is 6 weeks older than him, has just started crawling and pulling herself up but thats it. However, there is such a difference with her levels of concentration and her speech. Her pincer grip is fab and her babbles are like full sentences! So yes, from what I've seen, boys are quicker at the physical stuff, but the girls are smarter ;)

I always thought girls were faster than boys?
That said, my son was crawling at 7.5mths and walking at 9mths.
Potty trained at 12mths...
BUT... when I compared him to girls at say 3yrs of age he was more advanced in terms of speaking, understanding etc... and the girls seemed more physically able like riding a scooter, balancing etc.
That said we found out at 5yrs he had a problem with his right eye - almost blind so maybe that held him back on those.
I don't know.
Mum always says 'wonder if ella will be as quick as harry... but I doubt it, you usually find with number 2 you have less time to dedicate to potty training etc so it takes longer...'
I have a friend with a year old boy and a friend with a year old girl.
The boy has only just started crawling and standing holding onto the sofa.
The girl has been crawling since 8mths and is now just getting the confidence to stand unaided.
They are all different!
