Ok so i have had problems from day 1 with BF as Alfie has never latched properly due to what we have now discovered (after 16 weeks of trying to figure it out) a physiological problem with his mouth. I have had half my nipples missing, cracked, bleeding, had thrush 6 times, mastitus 4 times and then discovered a huge lump which i had scanned and turned out to be several blocked ducts due to Alfie's bad latch so had to have a needle stuck in my boob and the milk drawn out. I am so determined to BF that i am not gonna give up. (i'm stubborn )

Then now the doc just called i have 2 bacterial infections in my boobies cos of the cracks in my nipples which is causing yet more pain!!!!!!! I think its about time this BF lark sorted itself out!! :hissy::hissy::hissy:

Sorry for the rant girls i just feel like i deserve a break or at least some pain free feeding if only for a day

He better bloody appreciate this haha

Wow your amazing, I'm totally for breastfeeding but after that much I don't know if I would have been able to stick it through. I've only had mastitis once each with 2 of my kids and battled constant HORRIBLE thrush for 2mo with my youngest and thatwas the worst, I can't imagine having it 6x. I really hope it starts to get easier for you soon

bloody hell lass... your determination is fantastic!!! well done you... just hope it improves for you soon girl. xxx

Well I'd like to say you are my hero for still being here!! Blimey!! Talk about having everything possible slung your way!!! :dohh:

Big  Let's hope it gets better soon xx

Thanks ladies, i must say i would of given up a long time ago if it wasn't for the fantastic support i've had from a LLL leader.

It has improved since we started so i'm hopin as Alfie grows he will be able to get a deeper latch, i have everything crossed it'll happen soon!!!!

Well done you at getting this far. I do hope things get easier for you.
A girl at the baby cafe has been struggling bf since she gave birth before christmas. Bad latch, thrush etc etc. You could see the pain in her face everytime. She is only now, getting pain free feeding. You know what? Like you, not once did she ever consider ff. It just wasn't an option for her. And today, I saw her bf without a wince. They both looked so happy.
Well done to you all for being so strong. Don't know if I could be!!

Oh wow, well done for being so determined! Hope it gets better for you soon. :hugs:

I've had constant agony too with Oscar not latching correctly. It's been torture and I had his mouth checked out and was told all was normal - but still, blisters, cracks, unbelievable pain...

however, in this past week it has suddenly started to get a bit better and he has even begun to latch himself on (I always had to hold his chin down because he wouldn't open wide)...

i'm still sore and it still hurts but I can't bring myself to give up either.

Are you in UK? because I'm in US and got this
https://www.kellymom.com/newman/03b-treatments_sore_nipples_breasts.html#apno

which has helped much better than the lanolin.

Yeah kin the UK, i'm not using any ointment as was told it can encourage the nasty thrush bugs to grow but its gotten alot better than it was so i find i don't need any now.

Yah docs looked at Alfies mouth too and said all was normal but my LC said that he has a high arch pallete which is gradually coming down and things should improve as he grows, i bloody hope so!!! Don't think i can put up with this for a year!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg you're amazing sticking at it!! i well wouldnt have been able to cope with all of that!

Wow! I take my hate off to you (lol not that i am wearing one). You have done a bloody amazing job!!!

I only had mastitis and thrush at the same time, i thought that was bad enough!

xx

WOW!!! I don't no how u coped with all this!! Breastfeeding hero me thinks!! I had only had mastitus once and i swear it was more painful than child birth! (I'm yet to find someone to agree with me tho!) :haha:

Its definately the worst i have felt, i've never ever felt that ill in my life, mastitus is HORRIBLE. When you've got it the last thing you feel like doing is BF but you know you have to do it to get rid of it :dohh:

omg!! well done you for sticking at it this long, if you can do this you can do anything!!

x

Amazing hun, you are a super trooper!!! I get mastitis a lot as well, and it does just suck!
