I currently work for my local Coop, and have been doing so for about 5 weeks. However, I have another potential job offer and am thinking of taking that instead.
What I wanted to know is, how much notice am I likely to need to give?
I have signed NO formal contract of employment, and have never been told. I will ask tonight but am wondering if anyone might have any idea?

It depends on your job and what's in your contract (except you've not had one!), but i'd guess anywhere between 1 week and 4 weeks, probably 1-2 weeks if it's a job they'll be able to replace quickly without loads of training/handover?

If you haven't been given a contract the the statutory minimum of one week would apply.

Probably 1 week - although if you're paid monthly, then it might be monthly.

I'd start by giving one week's notice though and see what happens - they're unlikely to quibble as they have nothing but a verbal contract with you.

Tx
