giving water instead of milk at night?

18 weeks seems a little young for your doctor to advise you to just leave her... I mean if she isn't wanting food, it's different but there are growth spurts, teething, just not feeling well days where they will wake and sometimes a snuggle and some milk do the trick, even when not "needed" anymore. I don't mind feeding my LO though, I'm here if she wants milk :P

to be fair she didnt mention her baby crying or being upset when we woke up so why shouldnt she leave her? River sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night, has a little chat with herself and goes back to sleep.

That is what I meant when I wrote that... if the baby isn't wanting food then it's a different situation. Maybe I should word it better... to say if your baby isn't crying or being upset or hungry instead of how I worded it.

I assume you mean me? I don't leave her if she doesn't sound happy. If she starts to whimper or cry I will tend to her, but if she's just chatting I will just leave her. Most of the time she's fairly happy, just very loud  I certainly wouldn't let her CIO until she's older
