Hi there,

We're waiting for our first referred appointment at the Assisted Conception Unit at the Royal and wondering if anyone else has experience there?

After temp charting for the last 10 months (ttc since Jan 09) and blood test at the GP's, I think that I am ovulating ok but OH's SA stats came back pretty low on motility (11%) and morphology(9%). I have no idea what to expect when we go to the Royal at the end of June and am wondering if anyone can help shed some light.

Feeling miserable today as af just started but not sure the entire morning on the internet has helped!!

Thanks!

Im sorry i don't have any experience with GRI - yet. My apt there is 22 June. Having said that i wont get any fertility treatment per se, only tests as not considered infertile (have conceived and mc twice- and also over the cut off age for ivf etc).

Just wanted to say sorry about af and to wish you good luck!

:hugs::hugs:

Thank Omi,

It's our first appointment too - 23rd June, the day after you! We haven't had any luck concieving yet but hoping we can get some advice and figure
out what's next. It would be great to hear how you get on :) Seems like ages away and I wish the appointment was sooner, without wishing my life away that is :)

Ive had two friends on fertility treatment in Glasgow and both say their treatment has been ace. Unfortunately one never caught on both (free) IVF occasions and the second has had 2 mc's just like me and strangely at the same time. I think because they've shut down most of the fertility stuff at the Western (where i went for my first apmt) most get sent elsewhere, GRI being the first point of call. My DH has his SA at the beginning of June (not looking forward to it, lol)

You'll be fine. Lots of bloodtests, ov test, checking the tubes and all that - fun :) I cannot say anything bad about any treatment Ive had in Glasgow but i would say from one of the girls that Ive spoken to on here (and she just gave birth last week) is not to take anything for gospel. Be your own advocate and push anything you think and feel is important.

All the best, Chicken!

Omi xxx

Thanks Omi, it's nice to hear of someone else going through this madness in the same neck of the woods. Come on Glasgow BFP's!!!!

Hey there; I'm pretty near Glasgow too; not been to the GRI myself though; all in Paisley so far.

Just wanted to wish you luck since you're another Glasgow girl!!!

Ooh! Just got back from the first appointment at Glasgow Royal. Seemed to go ok, second SA results were better and all seems well so I'm on the waiting list for an xray of the falopian tubes etc - it's called a hysterosalpingogram and a 5 month waiting list :( Rubbish news so nothing really doing until November now. If we were judged to be 'unexplained infertility' after that xray, it would be IUI in January time I think, if there's blockages or issues with me, it would be IVF and a waiting list until Nov 2011!! Fingers crossed we can do it on our own before then!! Hope everyone else is doing ok :) xx

Hi just wanted to say i have been attending paisley and have also been ttc since jan 09. I have had everything done now, blood tests (loads!), Dh had SA, ive had ultrasound and HSG. They found nothing so we are in the unexplained category! Our next app is sept where we will be refered for iui.

Loving the "come on Glasgow BFP's!!!!"

Hi Chloe1, How was the HSG? I'm quite gutted that I have to wait for it until November :( That's 5 whole months! Have been looking online at private options but the expense is bonkers. Sept isn't too far away for your IUI appointment - let me know how you get on and wishing you lots of luck :)

Hi, hope I'm not butting in but I had an HSG a while ago at Ninewells in Dundee. I was delighte because they gave me the results there and then and it was amazing to see the image of my uterus and tubes - it was all very clear. I'm sorry you have to wait so long, I only had a month or so to wait from my initial appointment until the HSG it was after that that I had quite a wait to begin IUI as I was using donor sperm. Good luck.

Hi lochbride, i'm attending GRI too. I know 5 months seems like a long time but hopefully it will go in quickly. Sept isn't too far away and you never know u might not need it.

The waiting lists for icsi/ivf are pretty long, we were referred sept 09, and were told we won't be seen till jan 11!!!!! The last ten months have went quicker than i thought, so hopefully the remander will do too.

Best of luck :hugs:

Hi lochbride, i found the HSG very uncomfortable but it was so worth while. I kept myself distracted by looking at the screen while the doc talked me through everything. Again i got my results there and then but had a follow up app with my FS. My FS said it increases your chances in the 6 months after it so heres hoping .... this is my 6th month since the HSG so it bloody better be my month :haha:

Its a shame you have to wait i hope your lucky before the HSG :hugs:

Good luck cazhd! The waiting lists are just so long its a nightmare. Hope it goes quickley for you :hugs:

Thanks to both of you - it's good to read your stories - hopefully this will be a lucky few months for us all or at least the time will fly past before we realise it! Chloe1, it's good to hear the truth about the HSG as well, no point pretending it won't be uncomfortable but it's all for a good cause right :) It's good to hear they give you the results there and then too. Ah, I just want the time to pass NOW! Cazhd, fingers crossed the last push to January will pass super quick xxx

hi Gayle31, is the GRI your local hospital? i was referred to the GRI after my local hospital checked my tubes and dh sa. Our first appointment at the GRI lasted about an half and hour, initially i was weighed and had height measured to have my bmi calculated. We then waited a short time before we were seen by the nurse consultant. She told us basically from the results she had what our treatment options were and then said she hoped she didn't have to see us again.

The reason i asked about it being your local hospital is because the waiting times are dependent on what health board you are with although i think there is only a couple of months difference between each one.

Best of luck :hugs:

Hello Cazhd
Thanks for getting back to me yes the GRI is my local hospital im like 10 min drive from it handy. Thanks for the info any info will help i am alot more calm this week maybe cuz i have my apointment or i have came to terms with the fact that its going to be a bit of a waiting game from now on so just to chill out. x

Hi girls, this is my first post and looking for some good news (fingers crossed). We've been TTC since jan 09, had everytest for both of us. So got refferred to GRI assisted conception clinic, it's only been a few months but feels like years. Wondering how long it is roughly from refferral to appointment????????? i feel i'm going insane, we havn't told anyone yet. please help xx

Hi skibode the scottish govt issued targets of 12wks earlier this year from referral to first outpatient appointment. I know how difficult it can be when u haven't told anyone, i hope your wait isn't too long x
