I have to get my urine checked every month as I am prone to UTIs. (I was born with extra kidneys which have since been removed) I see a specialist at the hospital and was told at the last appointment if I have another infection I will likely be on antibiotics for the remainder of the pregnancy.
I handed in a sample yesterday and when the nurse called me in to the room I knew it wasn't good news.. As I suspected I have an infection - the sample is being sent away to the lab to get the right antibiotics for this infection and I expect to be on tablets now everyday when the hospital find out.
I was already disappointed enough at this news when she told me about the glucose - not just a trace she said there was +++ which sounds loads to me! I have to go for a fasting blood test on Tuesday to see what the score is. I have been told it might be gestational diabetes.
Does anyone have gestational diabetes (or have you had it before)? I'm a bit overweight - BMI was 28.5 before pregnancy - but I don't think I'm classed as 'high risk'. I don't have a lot of sugar in my diet but I've decided to try and cut it out completely.
I know this is probably me just feeling sorry for myself. Once I know one way or another I know i will be able to cope with what the hospital tell me to do but at the minute it just seems really daunting... I hate thinking my baby could be at any kind of risk because of me
Thanks for reading and if anyone has any advice I'd love to read it.
