I'm a little nervous but for some insane reason DH and I are both confident I'll pass this test. No idea where this confidence is coming from, lol.

Instructions for the test says there is no fasting or other prep needed. Just that I cannot eat or drink anything after drinking the glucose solution. I should drink it 45 minutes before my appointment.

Would the test results be skewed if I skip lunch and drink it up and get the blood drawn? My appointment is at 4 PM in the afternoon.

The test is for how your body handles the glucose in the drink. Probably not a good idea to skip lunch. The high sugar in the drink was bad enough with breakfast in my system. My doc recommended a high protein lower carb meal before hand. I had toast and eggs. My results were spot on for pre-pregnancy.

Thank you. No skipping lunch then. I'll carry on with my daily routine and drink the glucose 45 minutes before appointment then.

Last pregnancy I did mine on an empty stomach (skipped breakfast) and had no issues. Hope you pass!

I had to fast on mine, had my test monday passed it. I had to fast for 12hrs before the first blood drawn to get a baseline reading. Then drink lucosade in 10mins. Then 2hrs later have the 2nd bloods drawn. Gd luck x

Since mine was just a screening test and not a tolerance test yet, I only had 1 blood draw. Had normal lunch at noon and then drank the glucose drink an hour before the appointment, had the blood draw exactly 1 hour after I finished my drink. Waiting for test results now, fingers crossed I won't have to go the 3 hour tolerance test.

Apparently at this appointment, they also check for anemia, I have no hope that it will come back good. Bracing myself for an iron prescription.

I have my glucose test tomorrow morning. I figure I'll just not eat after dinner, and skip breakfast since my appt is so early. I'm not really hungry in the morning anyway. I've never had issues before.. So I'm hoping I'll be fine.

I find it odd some people have to fast? I never did with my first and don't this second time around.

Hoping for good results for your test :)

there are two types of tests: fasting and non fasting. Most docs use the non fasting first and if you fail that then the give the fasting. But some docs skip straight to the fasting.

Still waiting for results. I feel like this blood test is taking a long time (doesn't help that there was a whole weekend in between).

I had breakfast and I snack before mine and failed with 5 mg over! I wish I had eaten low sugar and carb, but I had banana and oatmeal with sugar. Do yourself a favor and don't have sugar or carbs before the test, or have low carb.. Eggs and whole grain toast is probably good.

The test was on Friday, waiting for results now. I had lunch but it did not have any sugar in it and there was about 3 hour gap between lunch and the glucose drink. Keeping my fingers crossed that was good enough gap.

I found out today that I passed the 3 hour test. It is such a relief. Good luck to you!

I had to call the doctor's office coz they forgot to upload my results to my online records and the nurse also forgot to give me a call. On the pleasant side, it looks like I passed my 1 hour screening test as well as the anemia test.

127 which is less than 130 (cut off at my doc's office) for the glucose screening test.

36 which is higher than 34 (cut off for hematocrit test) for anemia, thankfully this means iron pills can wait until a third trimester retest for anemia!! I'm so happy.:happydance:

I am happy to hear that you passed!
Those iron pills really are a pain to take, so glad that you don't have to take them-at least for now. FX'd your iron levels stay well throughout.
