I have my glucose testing tomorrow and I heard something about things I should and shouldnt eat before I go in, but I'm not really sure as to what he guildlines are to them and my doctor didnt say anything about it.

Does any one else know??

I have got mine next week and my doctor gave me a diet I have to have for 3days before the testI will give the short version.
-Breakfast= Cereal,orange juice,piece of fruit.
-Morning tea= Saoswith honey or marmalade,2 plain biscuits, glass of Orange juice or soft drink.
-Lunch= Sandwich with any filling,1 piece of friuit, glass of Orange juice or soft drink.
-Afternoon tea= Same as Morning tea
-Dinner= Lean meat/chicken,veges,2 medium potatoes, slice of bread, glass of Orange juice/softdrink,1 serve of ice-cream and fruit
-Supper= same as morning tea
This is the diet that my doctor gave me just to give me an idea what I can eat to get the most accurate results.
Hope it helps,good luck

When I had my test they told me not to eat before it and thats about it. Its really boring lol, since you have to sit around for an hour after. At least it tasted like orange pop Mmmm

yeah I have heard it tast like orange soda... but I have also heard that its NASTY and if you throw up, you have to do a three hour test.

That list really helps, I just wish maybe I would have gotten on here 3 days ago. My doctor didnt tell me ANYTHING other then I was going to be having the test. My mother just said not to eat, but I dont know

So do they take blood or what? does it hurt?

lol

Yeah from what I can gather they take your blood twice once before the drink and then after, they also should have given you a pee jar lol to collect a sample first thing in the morning, atleast that's what they are making me do.

Hopefully if it taste like orange soda it shouldn't be that bad. Orange soda actually sounds good right about now  Hope all goes well!!

I have my test next week as well. My doctor just told me to drink it an hour ahead - no diet, no nothing....

I cannot believe they are making you do all that Angel.. are you high risk?

My doctor told me not to eat before or something, I cannot remember, but he didn't give me a diet to go by.. I would think it would make it inaccurate to change my diet just up and sudden a few days before.
I also have to drink the drink like 30 minutes before arriving at the office.
MINES TOMORROW!! At like 1:30 (which would actually be considered today since its 1am here).. hehe.

i had a glucose tolerance test few weeks ago now i was told not to eat or drink anything only plain water after 10pm the night b4 i went for test,
they took a blood test to see what blood sugar was before drinking the drink (which was only lucozade a can and a lil bit in cup) had to drink it within 10 mins then they took another blood test 2 hours later i had to remain in hospital throughout the test (because of having empty stomach they are worried if u faint or somat if u go out)
then ya ave to wait few days for the result they just told me if i hadnt heard anything by mon the test was ok)
i went in for test on the fri
but i didnt hear anything so assumed it was fine hope all goes well for u

Interesting, I have my test on Friday and the only instructions I was given were to ensure that I don't eat or drink 2 hours before the test. That's it.

The I go in, drink the testing liquid...come back in 2 hours, do a blood test, pee in a cup and off I go.

I had this. The midwife said that you was not to change your diet. There are so many different things each person is told its hard to get your head around which is right.

However i was under strict instructions you're not to eat 12 hours before your testing time.

i guess they just must do it different depends on ur area i expect i was soo dying for my morning cuppa the day of test lol
