in the morning i have to go get the glucose tolerance test done.
my problem is i have a terrible thing with needles. the first time i blacked out and had a seizure, they said that was probably just a one time thing since i was tested negative for epilepsy.
then the last time i got blood work done a few months ago, they took 12 tubes!
at first i am always okay but its after like 2 minutes i start to feel dizzy and hot and get really pale...feel like i am going to pass out.
i am really nervous that it will happen tomorrow since they have to stick me twice!
any suggestions as to what helps with anxiety to needles?

Don't stress it girl just think of that wonderful miracle you have inside of you and know that the testing is to help you and baby out. Ugh, I hate needles too, I especially hate seeing blood come out of me. Its gross but the testing isn't bad at all. Just keep LO on your mind ;]

I've been wondering, is this test necessary? I'm pretty positive there is nothing wrong with my glucose, how dangerous is it to decline this test?

No don't do that... it not even dangerous at all they just check to make surre you don't have gestational diabetes. Its just to be safe for u and baby

It's the stress i'm worried about, I almost passed out last time I had to go for blood. The woman would not be patient, thank god there was only one or two vials, or I would have been out.

you should ask the person drawing blood if you can lie down while they do it.
most places have to allow you to (i'm pretty sure)

Honestly I hate when they take blood out of me cause to me its so weird. But when they draw blood just don't look at them doing it. Just think of somethin your gonna do during the day or food haha or something. Just get it off your mind close your eyes when they do it. I couldn't eat for like the whole day almost. Well no sugar at least. I guess they say when ur pregnant.. Your risk for ges. Diab. Is higher. They just wanna make sure the process is going good. But don't eat nothing sugary cause that can give you a false positive. And they retake it. And that's worse so make sure its correct results the first time. Its not bad. Just don't look at it. =]

well i was planning on going this morning but i woke up feeling terrible! all day i have been unbelievably tired and my head is pounding, my nose and my throat burns...and the insides of my thighs are really sore????? i'm thinking it's either bad allergies or me getting sick :( but why would my thighs be sore?

Lying down does generally help, so ask if you can! They usually accommodate. I have a needle phobia as per se, I had nightmares the night before last about yesterdays blood test but have got all through it now. Anymore than two vials and I start uncontrolably shaking, which quite hurts when you have a needle in your arm(!) Either way got through it with all but a massive bruise on my arm (I bruise by touch and bleed non stop unfortunately). Either way, what I am trying to say is, if it is for the wellbeing of you and your baby, you have to do it and try to block it as much as possible.

It usually helps me to have someone stood next to me to talk to so I have my mind off it as much as I can, lying down tends to calm a little more and not overthinking about it before you enter the room! Nothing more I can say, but good luck xx

Well when you get sick girl your whole body feels weak. Or maybe its just you need a rest.

just think its for the little one :)
i have mine booked for friday /: really dont want it but im at high risk so knowing my luck ill have g.d :D fat babies here we come haha x
