Glucose tolerance test

Hello! Hope you don't mind if I join. My test will be on May 14th and I will be 24w3d. This is my first time being pregnant so I'm not really sure what to expect. What factors can raise your chances for GD?

Ughhh, I failed my one hour test.

My results came back today at 142 and they look for 135 or below.

I have to go for the 3 hour test Monday at 8 AM. No eating or drinking for 12 hours before the test. I really don't want to go back for the 3 hour test. :( I feel like having a cry.

Ouch oh no hun u ate well too before I knw 3 hour is a pain but most ladies who are not able to make up for the one hour test definitely passes 3 hr one as 1 hr is just a screening it doesn't determine if u have gd or not so 3 hr is the sure shot test and u dnt have to worry what to what not as it asks for fasting glucose first I knw it's annoying the whole day procedure but m sure ill pass this one I'll mark your test in the description dnt wry hun fx tightly this time around!!

Hi girlies got my results today so happy I could cry :happydance:

Looks like this time round I'm GD free :happydance:.
I couldn't believe it I was so expecting to have it again
They retest at 28weeks but so far so good, I'm still going to live by the diabetic diet plan from last time for an even better chance of it not returning at all

I'm determined for my VBAC so that's keeping me going xx

Congrats dear let us knw when is the next one and also what is the diet you following so it can help all of us what did u eat before your 1 hr test??

Sure welcome you all will add you guys to the list

Welcome hun sure you can join anytime I have added you to the list as well, this is my first time too as far as the information I have gathered if diabetes runs in your family you may be prone to it and also they say usually diet and exercise don't matter but following good diet and being active really helps also if you have had gd in the previous pregnancies u than you have higher chances too, hope it's not the case with nay of us here! Fx for all f us!!

Next is April 27th on the list -----mummy2be_93 , babee_bugs and Sil fx !!

April 30th is my test and right after DH has an eye doc appointment. What to expect from the 1 hour test? First time mommy to be.

Welcome katangel90, added you to the list , so how far along are you going to be at that time??

Well glucose tolerance test you will be given a sugary drink an orange pop like drink which u will have to drink within five minutes and exactly after an hour your blood will be drawn and within a couple of days you will get to know your result, well that's basically glucose screening test and if you pass that one,you are good else you will have to go for the three hour test which is the main glucose tolerance test

So the sugary drink may cause dizziness or nausea that's what happened to me when I took at 16 weeks

I had mine yesterday 4/22. For some reason they scheduled mine at 29 weeks. They called me today to say that I passed! Yay!
My test was at 2:40 pm, I woke late and had a late breakfast (1 piece whole wheat toast and 2 scrambled eggs) at 11:40 am. 45 min before the test I drank the fruit punch. Blech!
When I got home I felt horrible. I was sweaty, nauseous, hot and cold, and felt like I was going to pass out. I'm pretty sure I was hypoglycemic. I ate a large meal and felt better. I had milder symptoms today and eating helped. I wonder if that glucose drink has ever triggered hypoglycemia in some people?

I'm in the UK got mine on 18th may

Got to fast from midnight

Get to hospital have bloods drink lucizade wait an HR more bloods more lucizade then bloods then home 😷

I'm dreading it my boy is off all growth scales

What's the 1 hour test, I wasn't offered this, i got told to fast from midnight I get bloods at 9am then drink the sugary drink then sit for 2 hrs then they draw them again. Hayleyjj I saw on another thread your lo is 1lb 4oz at 22 weeks, my lo was 1lb 5oz at 23 weeks and they said that's a normal weight should I be worried she's big too?

Hi everyone, I have my GTT on June 2nd! Hopefully it won't be an issue, haven't had any symptoms but you never know.

It's not that his weight is big he's off all scales In measurements x

Hayleyjj what weeks are you going to be on your gtt??

Had my 3 hour one this morning, it was fine, very boring but fine and the drink isn't half as bad as I thought it would be! Got my results back and all is normal thankfully! I had to fast from midnight but was allowed to drink water xx

@Sil I felt dizzy when I had mine done at 16 weeks, which I passed with flying colors mine came as 108 where the cut off was 140, the reason I was told to go thru it cuz my endo felt I can get gd easily as I had mild pcod once so just to be sure everything is fine usually this is done in the initial week as well, but now that baby is big will definitely have my little one going all crazy once I take that sugary drink as at that time I was too early to feel the movement, so hoping my next time turns out great as well and so for u!! Let us know when u expecting the result so I can put in the initial description above

@Ahughes yup the sugary drink we have to gulp it down within 5 mins and u may feel dizzy afterwards it's good to take a walk so I did the same I drank and then I walked to the doc's office so it was good 10 mins walk, I also got mine and have refrigerated it!!

@ Abbey lets us know when is the date finalized for you hun so I can put in the initial description above and the good thing to have before glucose tolerance is less crabs and more protein like I had whole wheat toast and egg also as Sil mentioned toast with almond butter or peanut butter is a good choice too

@highhopes welcome hun! Fx tightly crossed for you although they say you may get gd again if you've got previously but If you eat healthy and remain active I think it can be easily taken care of and hoping the same in your case too hun fx again so you had your glucose tolerance in 17weeks 4d? And the next again you'll have after 24 weeks right?

Hey jiw617 welcome hun!! Are you going to have one once u are 16 weeks?

Ok I saw my doctor Friday and got my next appt which will include my 1hr glucose test... But my doc is using my original due date that I got at 8 weeks not my due date that has been used at every ultrasound since... Its only a 3 day difference so I suppose it doesnt matter. I go in for the 1 hour on May 18th, and I will be 27 weeks 6 days. The paper she gave me with directions for the test also says "28 week glucose test" so she must just want to test at approx 28 weeks. So I have 3 weeks from today to wait....

Anybody know how long it takes to get results?
