Glucose tolerance test

Well I went for my 1 hour on Monday and found out today I failed. Apparently my reading was so high that I don't require the 3 hour. So they will be scheduling me to see a specialist. So not looking forward to this!

Did they tell u your numbers? Iv just found out I have it and although it's scary it's not as bad as it seems and i will be monitored lots

My number was 200. I only had the 1 hour and they said it was high enough that I didn't need to take the 3 hour.

Yeah I had gd and my number was this after breakfast yesterday and that's pretty high

My old monitor from when I had it in 2007 no longer works, so I am waiting for them to call me on Monday with my appt and then I'll get a new one. I'm sure my insurance will cover it. Hopefully they can get me in this week so I can get a monitor then.

I had also eaten right before I went so that probably didn't help. The lab is only 5 minutes down the road from my home. I got in right away too.

Does everyone have to do this test? Because on my 2 previous pregnancies I never had to do this.
My sister who had a baby last year had to do it and a work colleague of mine recently had to do it. Will I be asked to do it too? Is it a new thing? My last baby was 5 years ago.

Are you from the UK?
If your BMI is above a certain number then your told you need to do one.
If you visit the midwife and your urine contains alot of sugar (G++/G+++) they like to get you booked in for a GTT too.
If you have neither of these things and no signs/symptoms of GD then you wont be tested x

Ah ok that makes sense. My BMI is normal but my sisters was higher so kinda makes sense that she was offered it and not me.
Cheers xx

I have my 3 hour test in the morning, have to fast from midnight so stuffing my face

In the US it is standard to have it done at 28 weeks. My Dr decided to have me do it early since my next appointment isn't until almost 28 weeks.

Had mine yesterday. No call today so i'm guessing it's good news! :happydance:

Had the 2hr test this morning. Felt like crap afterwards but some greasy takeout seems to have helped! :haha:

Going to enjoy what could be the last day of eating yum stuff!
