Has anyone ever tried a gluten free diet to improve fertility? I heard from someone a while back who couldn't concieve that this was recommended and after a few months she got her Bfp. My husband was recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance so we have to change how we cook at home anyway, I wonder if I should just get on board with him and cut gluten out completely (even though I love bread)!

I have heard this too. I have been cutting out the wheat with the hope of all gluten soon.

Sorry I am not more help.

I am doing a reduced gluten diet in this house, as close to raw as possible ie fruits veggies and meats. When we feel like pasta I use a gluten free pasta. My kids still have cereal but I buy some that is gluten free. When I bake I make it gluten free. I have onyl started this since the new year started and jan wasnt a successful cycle for me. We still eat bread etc but I plan to get a breadmaker and make my own gf bread using rice flour or almond flours.... I am only doing it because really... gluten isnt ideal for anyone. I definitely think it wouldnt hurt to try!

My DH has diverticulitis, my son has super ADHD and im overweight (without PCOS) and we've been TTC for 13 months. Our GP just recommended we go Gluten Free, the next day the new OB suggested the very same thing. We are both starting Chantix to quit smoking, reducing the amount of drinking, and we are phasing out gluton but not cutting it totally right off the bat (thats the surest way to go through any kind of withdrawal). DH's sister has Celiac and his brother has Chrons disease so issues run in his family.

With this being said SIL is pregnant, and her OB wants her to eat gluten during her pregnancy (her gluten intolerance does not affect her during pregnancy) so the baby is exposed and may have less issues related to gluten, although of course genetics will play a role as well.

I have been reading about this. There may be a link between gluten intolerance and infertility in both men and women. I have PCOS and was able to have both of my boys while I was on Atkins which is a gluten free diet. I have recently switched to low carb diet again so that I might get #3. I have been gluten free for 36 days. So yes. Even though I didn't realize it until just a few days ago, I am gluten free to imporve ttc.

I think it probably helps the most when you're intolerant or have ciliac. But I know someone who had been ttc for 3 yrs believing it was pcos. Turns out she has ciliac, she went gluten free and is pregnant know! 3 months later! I think we all probably eat more then we should especially because it's in everything nowadays. Just keep in mind it takes a month or two for your body to work out the kinks and cleanse itself. So don't give up on it to fast:)

I have read that most cases of Celiac are likely undiagnosed. There is a link with autoimmune hypothyroidism, so if you are hypo, it is worth getting checked.

I have never been diagnosed as Celiac, but I am really curious now after doing all of this reading. I bet I had a gluten allergy as a child and that is the reason I have hypothyroidism, I'm only 5 ft 2 in, I have lactose intolerance, and it is probally behind my PCOS. Celiac patients also suffer from recurrent mc. Back in November when a friend of my said his wife was just diagnosed with Celiac I had no idea about any of this. I can't believe it. Part of me wants to get tested to find out, but another part of me just wants to let it go and just eat gluten free as if I am. For now I am continuing on with my low carb diet until I get a bfp.

mysugarpie - I eat gluten free and have been doing so for about two years. still not preg but did have one chemical in that time period. it made me drop weight like mad, though - now I feel so great have so much energy and no diarrhea or cramps after food.

good friend on bnb....he dh had low sperm and motility. diagnosed with celiac. ate gf for 4 months and his next sperm analysis came back with whopping huge awesome numbers. she is currently preg with twins.

gl!

I have read that about sperm count. Men who might have even a slight allergy to grains have lower sperm counts and then by eliminating grains from their diet they have dramatic increases in sperm counts. It is worth a try. My husband is grain free for now. I have been grain free for 6 weeks, but I do feel a little more energetic than I used to, and I have noticed a difference in my hair, skin and nails. I have lost 13 lbs. I take a handful of vitamin supplements and so does my husband. I can recognize that both of us have benefited from this new change. Good luck ladies.
