go to the doc?

Deffo go. If a gal hasn't fallen PG despite being off contraception for a year, it's important to get yourself checkd out. My dr told me (when I mentioned in passing I was trying and when should I visit if I don't fall PG) that if someone hasn't fallen PG after a year of trying and are under 40, then it's important they visit a dr with their partner to get tests done. It might not even be you honey, it might be your partner so your dr might suggest he take tests too. In fact, my dr suggested I pop in if I don't fall PG after 6 months! Eeps!

OMG. I just made an appointment with a new clinic and I am going to see a NP that is specialized in fertility issues...so I hope that she can answer some well needed questions.

I always joke with my DH about his spermies being lazy and not up for the challenge getting to my egg haha! But I don't know how he would feel about getting tested...I think he would be more willing if we were trying for a longer period of time; as he has said before, he is happy how things are with just it being us, but would happy just the same to have children.

thanks genki...the gyns do blood work to test your progesterone levels and such, right?

Yup! I had all kinds of blood work done. They will also ask all about your family history and you cycles. I am so glad to hear that you have an appointment with a specialist. Seriously, once you discuss everything, I think you will feel a lot better!!! Good luck! :hugs:

Sarah

I don't think she is a 'specialist' per say...but she can def help me I am sure! If it has to take us a while longer to become preg, that will be alright, though I would like to have kids now since my parents are already in their early 60's and want them to enjoy my children...I just want to be certain that I am healthy and able :) Thanks everyone for your support and advice :hugs:!

I think you're doing the right thing by seeing someone at this point hun.

Just to start out with a progesterone test and then full hormonal blood test and a sperm test for DH you will have some sort of idea of what might be wrong if anything at all.

Tell DH that the sperm test is very NON invasive. He just gives a sample (from home) and you can take it in for him.

Testing is very scary thats for sure, but at the end of the day if its going to help you both to become parents (which you so much deserve) then its worth it :hugs:

I'm moving house over the weekend and will have to get a new doctor. I had just built up a lovely relationship with my own doctor and the health nurse too, who were amazingly supportive of me ttc in my 40's.

I'm nervous about being laughed at believe it or not, or not being taken seriously. So, we all worry about all aspects of ttc and our gynacological health. Funny isn't it. It's important really to remember that the questions and advice we seek are in relation to OUR health and not the people we are asking.

The majority of them will already have their families, so I've already got my questions ready if someone laughs at me. I'm going to ask them how they feel about their own children and the fact that they have produced their own family and then am going to ask them to help me create my own. There, I've said it now and feel loads better.

What was your question again?

No really, I hope you get a caring new Gynie honey.

don't be nervous Tish! They should be nothing but supportive! I really didn't dis-like the other gyn at all...she just didn't seem to into helping me much, or offering some advice as to why I could be having trouble...she was just like, well that is how you have been so...deal with it (that is how I took it). I really don't think that they will laugh at you or anything...that would be so rude and uncalled for! Going to a new doc is always weird...but try not to be anxious and expecting the worse :hugs:

FJL - I don't think the DH will go for sperm testing...even if it is at home...he is just so against forcing ttc, but in do recourse, with time and understanding that something could be wrong, I do not doubt that he wouldn't do it for me.

hey hun, i've been ttc for 6 months and last month i went to rs as i'd had constant cramping/discomfort since cd15 and creamy cm, turned out had thrush!! lol, but my dr was understanding and did swobs and i had a blood test. Everything has come back normal so they've said for me to go back after 1 year of ttc, said DH would have to do a test then but not yet. I do feel reassured that there is nothing "major" wrong though

that is reassuring! I am glad you went and feel better about everything. I don't know what the constant cramping could be...I have had hardly any cm the past couple days though...guess I should drink more water along with my EPO. I get disappointed every time I don't really see any cm since I am anxiously seeing if I O this month or get a peak on my CBFM

I am still getting all high readings on my CBFM...why?!?!?! I don't think I am doing the test sticks wrong :(
