Hi ladies,

Firstly thanks for reading. I am coming to the end of my tether. My little girl is 6 weeks on Monday and she has TERRIBLE wind issues, not farting, but trapped wind isues. She brings up about 10 burps per feed, but she STILL ALWAYS has more wind that gets trapped...I am going mad, she is in so much pain with it i hate seeing her like this and there seems to be nothing i can do

I use all the different positions to wind her in. massage tummy, cycle legs etc. I have upped the teat size, but then she guzzles it down like mad so think i should put her back on size 1 which i have done. I have used Infacol, Gripe water, Dentinox & cool boiled water. I am constantly winding her and it is so hard to get burps up but no matter how many i get up there is ALWAYS more...AAARRRHHHH!!

Its never ending, when she is awake she is always crying, she might settle for 10 minutes, but then she is pulling her legs up screaming and going red in the face. She poos every other day i would say so pretty confident it isnt constipation.

The doctor said it might be a milk allergy (as she has been being sick too, but that isnt too bad now we are on the Nutramigen) so she is now on Nutramigen and has been for the last 5 days. But if anything this seems to have made things worse (the trapped wind and screaming), is that possible??.....

Anyone got any ideas? Would a faster flow teat or slower flow teat cause more wind i am not sure which ones to use now for the best.

Thanks in advance or ANY advice you can give me and sorry for the rant :hugs: xx

I had the unburpable baby for a while (seriously - she defeated all the staff in the hospital so it wasn't just me being crap) - the one thing I've found almost guaranteed to get tonnes of wind out of her is to put her in a sling so she's almost upright and go for a walk...

Disclaimer: often the final burp comes up with a bit of breakfast which you end up wearing - so don't wear a nice top while doing this!

wow, only pooping every other day? Is that normal? My daughter is same age but she does at least 5 a day! Maybe its mine that isnt normal??

Have u tried fennel water at all?

has your doctor ruled out reflux?

My baby was the same. He wouldn't take much milk at a time so was feeding two hourly and the cycle of crying and moving to every position possible would start again. We tried everything - changed his milk, changed bottles, every wind remedy possible. Now his wind just disappeared at 11 and a half weeks as I was told it would - I di,dn;t believe anybody as his wind was so bad - he was pooing every 2 days aswell. But it literally went over night - it coincided when we changed to Dr Brown bottles - from Boots -but I do really think that was a coincidence. To be honest in his 10th week I stopped using anything. He'd had infacol, dentinox and gripe water and I don;t think any of them did the slightest thing. My doc gave me gaviscon for reflux and I thought I'm going to give him a week as I didn;t want to keep putting things in his system. So whilst this doesn;t help you I just wanted to say it does get better!!!! :) I used to carry him so he was on his tummy and that helped him - he stopped crying in this position - but it killed my back. Rocking him in his pushchair helped and I elevated his crib at the head end which also helped. Like I say I don;t believe the reason itr eneded so suddenly was the Dr Brown bottles but I wouldnt; use any others with brothers or sisters he may have. But he went from having 650ml a day and fell into 9th centile to 9ooml a day and back into 25th within space of a week

I totally sympathise with you! Evie gets bad trapped wind too but my first DD was DREADFUL! She had terrible colic and always, always had trapped wind. It seemed like she was just permanently unhappy. We tried everything. Infacol, Gripe water, different formulas, baby massage, cooled boiled water, the doc put her on gaviscon for reflux but this made her constipated... it felt like a viscous circle. All she did was scream and scream and scream, it was awful! I was told it would pass and she'd grow out of it by the time she was around 12 weeks, I didn't believe them but it was true. One day, she woke up and didn't cry! She didn't scream inconsolably all day, it was amazing, she literally changed overnight. I guess her digestive system needed a little time to mature.

Anyway I guess what I am trying to say is that it will pass. In the end, we took her off everything except infacol as I felt like I was pumping her body full of stuff that wasn't helping and switched to Dr Browns bottles. We also changed to ready made formula, which was more expensive but she was less windy on it so I didnt' care. Those things helped but nothing took it away completely. This time we've gone down the same route with dr browns bottles, ready made formula and infacol only and I keep telling myself that it will get better as she gets bigger, hang on in there :)

Sounds like the wind is trapped down and that's why it won't come up. My DS gets bad wind despite burping well and I'm sure it's connected to a lactose issue. He has silent reflux too. Have you ruled out reflux or allergy issues? I found this a helpful site:

https://www.refluxbabies.co.uk/information/what-is-baby-reflux.php?cat=2

I also use Colief which does help the wind somewhat. We're about to start lactose free milk.

HII,

first of all, i hope this msg find u well with u daughter...i hv the same excessive burping issue with my twin girls and u can imagine how hard it would be :'(

they are 6 months old now and they still hv these ENDLESS BURPS!!!!!!!!!
i used all kind of bottles and changed formulas , Lactose Free, Full Soya, Hypoallergenic.... but nothing has changed with these annoying burps.. they even cant sleep from that bleching.... i've been told they will grow out of it at age 3 months but it became worst ... their doctor said they hv acid reflux and cow's milk allergy so he put them on omeprazole and HA formula and it didn't work either....
plzzz and plzzz can u tell me what happened with ur daughter now?? did these annoying endless burping went away?? if yes , is there any possible way u did to achieve this???? or it went with days????

I wish u see my post and reply back ....im tired of being a burping machine :'(((((

thanks in advance!

Hi Alaa,

I am sooooo sorry to hear that you are experiencing this with your daughters, it must be extremely hard with them two like this! However I'm sorry I can't report that jessica is now 'fine'...

She is LOADS better don't get me wrong, but we are not there yet with her. She is now 9.5 months and still on MILK ONLY feeds. She still gets painful gas but she can just deal with it better herself and she can now finally sleep through the night (thought that would never happen!). She is unable to tollerate any food as yet. We are trying her again this week though, starting from scratch again adding one food at a time for one week to see that she is tolerating it ok...it's been a long road and there is a long way to go, but she is MUCH better. She is under a pediatrician and Dietician and there doesn't seem to be anything 'wrong' with her just...she is now off her reflux meds (omeprozole) too which is good.

I hope your girls do better soon, there has been so much going on with Jess i just don't have time to put it all down tonight, sorry, but please feel free to pm me should you want to talk or get any more specific info, hopefully I can be a little help to you, or others going through similar experiences...

I know it's seems never ending but it WILL get better. Although for us it wasn't u til a few weeks ago, but you will get there... :hugs:

My osteopathy advise was timed feelings and dummies worked a treat :)
