i tried pumping before but jack wouldnt take it outta the bottle. hopefully things will go better this time. any one have any tips about expresssing or getting bubs to take the bottle x

Expressing - well I don't have a problem with that but I hear that it can be a problem to trigger the let down reflex. I read that you could try feeding the baby on one side and expressing on the other if this is the case. I use a medela electric pump but I also have the avent pump which is good too.

My daughter would never take the bottle - the advice I got then was to get someone else to feed her so that she wasn't trying to turn in to find the boob - or to feed her in a different position - like propping her on a cushion. It also helps if you're not in the room getting all anxious about what's going on - just leave the room and let the other person give it a go.

hey hun I pump twice a day ive got an electric pump so its abit easier, top tips would be do it in the morning when your breasts are fullest, sit down somewhere warm, when you start take deep breaths to relax it helps with let down and i find dont stare at the bottle while pumping it slows me down i try and think of bubs helps abit. best of luck hun

I pump a few times a day, I just have a manual one. Start with some quick "suctioning" as this stimulates you like the baby, and then use longer pulls. Seems to work fine for me. I express almost 1oz off each breast and it only takes me 15mins.

only advice i can think is waiting for the 'let down' reflex, so pump, pump, pump, wait, if that makes sense. you could also try jack on a few different teats to help him to take it. i no MAM's bottles are very close to nipples honey. really good luck x

Deffo get someone else to give the first bottles, as you ARE boob

I agree about the MAM teats... the Silk ones... fab !!! I wouldn't recommend the CTN Tommee Tippee.... they always seem to collapse, and Mia struggled to get a good latch on them and got really windy.
