Hi Everyone,
Firstly I'm sorry for everyone who is in this section, what we've all had to go through is horrible and unfair and I hope that all our luck starts to change very soon.

Briefly, I'm 29 and we have been TTC our first since we got married in June 2009, I got pregnant in October but sadly miscarried at around 5 and half weeks. This cycle I got pregnant again, but this time it seems I've had a chemical pregnancy (BFPs for 3 days, then BFN for 2 days followed by AF). Needless to say I'm devastated once again.

I'm going to go to the Docs and just wondered if anyone could give me some advice on what to ask or what to expect? (I'm in the UK) I know that if I don't prepare then I'll just go in burst in to tears and be a gibbering wreck, so I'm trying to prepare myself!

thanks
Jess x

all my doc did was book me in for 3 sets of bloods one day 1 of my cycle one 21day of cycle and the other anytime, then i was refed to the fertility specialist whom said there isnt a problem worth investigating untill its been a year after my m/c unless ive sufferd 3 m/cs or more (but they really wernt very nice so i wouldnt expect the same treatment hun) xx good luck and im so sorry for you losses xxx

it doesny matter how much you prepare yourself you will still be upset, you cant not be after what has happened, good luck

Hi - I went to the Doc after 1 mc because I have pcos ( which is an underlying cause of mc ) and had to battle to get any help - have not had full investigations as it was only relating to the pcos.

The RCOG advise 3 mc as the benchmark to warrant any investigation in to any potential underlying condition but here's a link to th ma leaflet which explains what they look for and why - fingers crossed you have a good understanding dr.

Good luck and sorry for your losses

:hugs: I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I was investigated after my 2ND MC however, this was due to age (37 at the time) and having no thyroid.

Try not let them fob you off, some will refer before 3 MC's but the majority won't. Ask for progesterone to be checked as this can be done at your local surgery along with routine bloods ie thyroid.

Good luck honey.

Thanks everyone for your responses - it's very kind of you all, I'm going to write a list of questions down before I go. My Doc is fairly understanding, she's been through a miscarriage herself so hopefully she'll be ok. Although last time I got the 'just relax' talk (argghh!) and I'm just hoping that I don't get the 'if this was 20 years ago you wouldn't have even known you were pregnant...'
