I was at the doctor's last week and she told me I could have PCOS, so now I have booked the best gynecologist here to examine and to do the proper tests.

We have been discussing trying for a baby with my other half, and somehow tables have turned and he is even more keen than I am trying for baby. In fact he even wants to come to the gynecologist with me next week. :dohh: I told him that he would probably examine me and it's a bit weird if he's there but he's insisting on hearing what the doctor has to say.

Initially we had planned to wait a year to get the wedding out of the way, but if I have PCOS then maybe it would change the situation. And that's his reasoning for wanting to be there, as well as being there to support me.

Have you even been to the gyne with your other half? I'd like to hear any experiences and opinions on this matter as I don't really know what to think of the whole idea of him coming with me. Would the doctor find it weird too?

My DH goes to all gyno appointments. I thought it'd be awkward for him but he doesn't really care. It seems to be fine. I know lots of women who's OH go with them.

Really, if he's happy to go then I say let him! It's really rare for men to get involved in the TTC process much more than sex so it's always good when they get more involved. :D It could possibly be though that the office won't let him in there but if thats the case then he can come back in once the exam is done and talk to the doctor with you. :)

I took my OH to a few ob appointments and it was fine. He sat at my head and when I later asked him "did you see her do a test with a long swab" (I couldn't remember if she did a pap) he said he had no idea because could not see what she was doing at all. The only weird thing was that usually the doc would talk mostly to me and only address him if he asked a question to them. Honestly, I thought it was nice to have him come with because he helped me remember all the questions I had, and also I had someone to hang out with while waiting in the room for the doctor (they keep you waiting so long!).

The only drawback is that many gyns/obs screen for domestic violence and they can only do that if you're alone, so they might still have some questions for you alone. But all in all that is great that your oh wants to be so involved!

Thanks to all of you for your great answers! I actually started being comfortable with him coming along, but he then decided he doesn't necessarily want to be there because he think seeing another man touch my boobs would make him uncomfortable. Men :laugh2: couldn't help laughing when he said that.
