I really felt that this post belongs in first tri.
My step fathers SIL has been through so much to fall pregnant. She's has had a quite a number of surgeries the last few years for various health complications. She almost lost her life after the 2nd surgery after her wounds got infected and her blood count was extremely low.
She found out she was pregnant about 4 weeks ago. At her first OB appointment, he advised her to return in 2 weeks because he was unable to listen for a HB or do a sonar due to her healing wounds. He told her to come back yesterday.
He did an external scan and could only find the sac. He told her that it was a mmc and that there was no baby. She begged him to do an internal scan and he refused to saying that he would see nothing other than what he had already seen. He did however, send her for a 2nd opinion inside the hospital and more blood tests.
At her 2nd scan, the same happened. An external scan confirmed a sac, but no baby or HB. Again they refused to do an internal and her options were to wait until she miscarried or d&c. She then went for her blood tests. She was so hysterical at this point that the nurse directed her to see a specialist as an emergency.
The specialist did an internal scan and found a beautiful, moving baby, with a strong HB!!!!! Needless to say, she will not be returning to her original OB!
I felt like this was such a story of hope, that I had to share. I know what my first trimester was like, and I know I would have liked to hear a good news story like this while I was so worried.
Good luck!! H&H pregnanies
