Is it normal for LeeAnne's eyes to be disgustingly goopy?! We are constantly having to wipe away all the crap that builds up in the corners and it even gets all into her eyelashes! I'm not sure if it means she has blocked tearducts or what is going on but her eyes are so red from constantly having them wiped!! Is this normal?!

sounds like an eye infection conjunctivitis, take her to docs will give her something for it. make sure you use a clean cotton wool ball and cooled boiled water each time you wipe her eye and use a seperate one for each eye to avoid spreading infection x

Ruby had this, it was blocked tear ducts. its only been gone the last few weeks. But, honestly one day it just disappears. Her's was gross proper thick and green :( it wiil go... eventually xxx

Ellie suffered really bad with sticky eyes until she was about 3/4 months old. If you clean her eyes with cooled boiled water with regularly with cotton wool it should help i also put a tiny bit of salt in the water. My doctor said if it doesnt clear up after a day to go and get some drops. Both of mine suffered with it.

As the others have said, use cotton wool and cooled boiled water. Joseph also had this for the first few weeks and it cleared up by itself eventually x

Helena also had this. Sometimes I would use a Q tip because it didn't irritate her face as much as a face cloth. It will go away...but it will seem very annoying and neverending while it is happening  That is one thing I do not miss...the GOOPY EYE!

Seren had this really bad, the hospital gave us sterile solution to clean it with, but I just used cooled boiled water and cleaned it with cotton wool a couple of times evryday and it cleared up on its own. If you use cotton buds instead of wool, make sure that you keep them in the water for a little while to sterilise them.

elliot had this too, for the first two weeks if i remember correctly.

keely.

Liv has a bit of this now - she went to the docs last week and he said its a viral infection and it will go without any meds - he also said that they don't recommend giving eye drops to babies at Liv's age as it can be too distressing for them and I have to say if she is anything like me, I can't stand things near my eyes! Its so bad that when I got an eye infection a few years ago I have to get drunk and ask my sister to put the drops in - and I still couldn't do it!! The infection went on its own - thank god!!! x

If you're breastfeeding you can drop some breastmilk into their eyes - works really well - otherwise do the water and cotton wool thing!

charlies still like this now! he gets it every now n again, but when he was about that age he got it bad and couldnt open his eyes, the dr advised to do the breastmilk thing, and gave us some eye drops! worked a treat!

i would also suggest the cool boiled water and cotton wool, hope it clears up soon honey :hugs: x x

my son's eyes were really goopy for a few weeks after he was born. i was told to clean the with breast milk evertime he was fed. it soon cleared up when we did this.

My son had this too for 3 weeks , we cleaned his eyes with a cotton wipe dipped in camomil
