i got engaged last october but the last few months have been hetic and now i finally have a few spare time on my hands, i just dont know what to start planning first, where do i start? haha :)

Have you got a specific date or month? If not theres still no harm in deciding what kind of ceromony you want civil/church. The the big one - budget!

I looked at how many people we would want for day/evening then looked into venues. Its all gone down hill from there I've not done much since really lol x

heheh awwww bless yaa xDD
well we want the end of 2011 but i dont really think that will be possible as money is an issue. and we know we want a church. and oooooo thats a good idea writing down all the people you want to come and that?

i would say church/venue, like kim said numbers of people, decide on a date summer months very popular and a photographer i think they are the important things, once there booked then just take your time with other bits look into style of dresses you like and for your bridemaids, what kind of flowers, colour schemes. I found it quite difficult budget wise as we didnt really know how much everything was going to cost but once you start researching you should have a better idea. But i guess you will already have an idea of how much you want to spend. Also have a look on some wedding sites they have 12month planners and 6month etc...

Hope that helps xxx

awwwwwwwwwwwww yhh thankyouuu muchoo hunni, you've been really helpful :DD

Firstly, decide on the type of wedding you want to have - whether it be church, registry office, hotel. Make up an draft guest list to give you an idea of numbers. You need to know this before looking at venues as some will have a certain capacity or requirement for minimum numbers. Secondly, have a think about a budget. Work out what you can realistically afford to save up/how much parents will contribute etc. Once you know that, you can go ahead and look at venues to get a date booked.

Once you have a date, venue and someone to marry you, next should be the photographer and videographer if you want one. They get booked up pretty quickly, so get in there fast to guarantee you get who you want. Bands are the same, so start thinking about them too.

Cars, dresses, cakes, flowers, wedding party outfits, wedding rings etc can all be dealt with in the year before the wedding. Have a look at the You and Your Wedding website, it will help you a lot

The way I did it, we got engaged in December and chose our date for September this year, with no savings and no clue of what we wanted

Yes, we are crazy.

To start we hunted for a reception that would be available at such short notice as people book years in advance, we found one that had just gone under new management so all dates were free! We called up the Vicar on the same day to see if the date was available which he said it was so that day we put down both the deposit for the reception and the church and we have been going from there.

Main thing is to get your venue and your church (or if not a church just the venue.. and so on), you may have a date in mind, we just went with "sometime in September" hahaha its now pinned down to the 11th. :happydance:
