I'm feeling really nervous about it,I have a bmi of 33 so that's why having the test,I've always had a sweet tooth esp with chocolate.Any ladies had the test who have a high bmi not have GD?r u more likely to have it if have quite a bit of sugar in diet?or does that not matter.

I have a high BMI also but have had GD with both my pregnancies. This pregnancy, I started testing at 6 weeks and was diagnosed right away. I'm pretty sure that eating too much sugar is not the cause of GD; it's how your body responds to the sugar. Also, after you have it once, your chances of having it in subsequent pregnancies is much greater... your chance of developing Type II diabetes also increases as well. I know some people who are also heavy like me and didn't have GD in any pregnancies. Good luck with your test! Try not to worry too much :flower:.

I had a bmi of 34 with my first child. I had the gd test at 26 weeks and did not have it. I'm lighter this time but still in obese category and I have to have a testfor this pregnancy in a few weeks, I'm wondering If I will have it this time? I agree, it's not how much you eat it's how your boy deals with the sugar but you are at increased risk if your weight is raised. I'm sure you will be just fine xx
