Wonder if anyone can help but my worries at ease. I was at the midwife this afternoon and she measured my fundal height at 29cm (I am 25weeks) she has now organised a growth scan for this Wednesday and to see a consultant afterwards, is this normal procedure? Has anyone else experienced this? The baby seems to be lying really high up and I do seem pretty big compared to my previous pregnancy, she had a feel of the baby and did say she was 99.9% everything is ok and baby is just sitting really high, so why go for a scan? Why is pregnancy not easy?! Now I'm worried.

Dont worry hun it might be that baby may be abit bigger, ive got to have growth scans this time round because my babies are on the large side and because of having 2 sections they wont take the risk if babie is big, i had alot of growth scans with dd2 she was always measureing 2 weeks ahead lol xx

I think if you are measuring over 3cm bigger the procedure is to send you for a growth scan so I would try not to worry. If you are carrying high I'm sure everything is fine.

X

I wouldn't worry, its normal to be sent for a growth scan if the fundel height is out by more then 3cm. It could be just how baby is lying. the consultant appointments just so they can talk to you about what they see on the scan and go over whether they'll do another scan or not.

Thank you ladies I am sure that because she is so high it is making the measurement higher too. I wasn't sure why I had to see the consultant afterwards but that makes sense too, had problems at the beginning and have just started to relax now this has come along and brought my fears back!

I wouldn't worry, not sure what baby this is for you but every woman's body is different and carries differently, I was measuring a whole month ahead with this one yet the baby is right on track and I've lost 13lbs :)

Thanks jlw, this is my second baby and he was born 9lb 9 so I'm guessing this one is going to be big too! I never had any growth scans with my first though so just felt a bit worried when they said I had to go. The scan is today so fingers crossed everything is ok. Good news on the weight loss I was hoping to lose weight this time as I did the last but so far I have stayed the same...damn!

Definitely wouldn't worry too much. I measured 9cm ahead from 28 weeks. I just had my baby at 37+3 and he weighed 6lb 10oz. I had no additional fluid etc., I just carried big.

Don't worry. Growth scans are very inaccurate anyway! I have them every 2 weeks due to my medical problems. I had one yesterday at 24+2, baby was breech and very low down.. She is estimated at 1lb 10 and measuring 4 weeks ahead. My consultant isn't concerned at all, and will just see how things are at my next scan in 2 weeks xx

When I was 34 Weeks's my tummy measured 42...... They just giggled and ran off.... I would rather have been scanned than giggled at :(
