I had a 28 week growth scan yesterday due to being high risk due to previous GD and gestational hypertension.

The perinatologist/consultant said my baby girl was growing 'normally' and is 'in the middle' and weighs 2 lbs 12 oz.

Of course that made me happy but looking at the chart, her femur and humerus are in the 11th percentile, which seems really short! I asked if Baby was a midget and she laughed and said 'no.' But her abdomen was in 60th percentile, the top of her head in 80th percentile, the sides of her head in 20th percentile (they told me my placenta was squishing her head making it measure smaller but it's fine ??) Some other measurement was 40th percentile....it just seems weird she isn't in proportion but the doctor was not worried at all.

Anyone else getting growth scans? What were your percentiles?

Mine wasn’t for a growth scan but I had a scan at 32 weeks and his leg measurements were below the 5th percentile where as the rest of his body were between 40th-60th and she did comment that he would be short. My mil is 5ft exactly and my sister is like 5.2 so I think he is just going to be short. My midwife and dr are not concerned at all. If they told you there is nothing to worry about I wouldn’t hun

I wouldn't worry either. It they saw any concerns they would say something. My ultrasound I just had at 27.3 showed her being in the 85 percentile in weight which I thought was kinda big. lol. He told me she was on the big side but he sched another ultrasound in 4 weeks and said that if she is in the 90th percentile thats considered enormous lol. I had premature twins the first time and they were big then. Maybe I just have big babies. But yes through all my ultrasounds if they felt anything was off they would tell you. trust me. Your baby is just fine.

Mine have all had short legs on scans, like head in the 98th, tummy in the 70th and legs in the 20/30th centile. They all came out very much in proportion :)

This is reassuring! No matter when the doctor says it's fine, I can't help picturing a disproportionate baby with a weird shaped head and tiny arms and legs  and of course I'll love her no matter how she looks. Sometimes all this information is more trouble tbh!!!

My kids all still have heads in like the maximum centile...they aren't concerned cos me and my husband have big heads haha. However they look absoloutley in proportion.

I can almost guarantee she'll come out looking like a normal baby, centiles are weird

It is so individual to each case and I feel they need to change their practice on what they say to women. My first was measuring in the 98th percentile the whole way through and they told me he was going to be over 10lbs he was 7lb12 lol and then my 3rd they told me would be lucky to weigh 5lbs he was 7lbs. I feel more often than not their calculation and judgement is very off!

I’m not sure babies ever measure quite perfectly on an ultrasound; my measurements for both dd1 and this dd2 have percentiles differing for all different body parts. DD1 came out looking proportionate as could be :)
