Ok, I'm going to come out and say it. I want my water birth lol.

I laboured in the water with Earl, and my labour stalled at 9cm due to exhaustion (by this point i was well over 36 hours in). I didn't even see a pool with Eddy as it happened rather more quickly than expected (went from 3cm-7cm in 3 hours then 7cm-10cm and crowing in 30 mins lol) and due to being busy I don't think I would have been able to have a birthing room anyway (was put in a regular delivery suite room rather than MLU even though my midwife was from MLU and I was under their care).

This time around I'm not allowed MLU, so will be fully on Delivery suite. There was 12 rooms, but only one with a birth pool. Chances of me getting that room are remote to say the least. I at least want the opportunity to try for my water birth - this is our last baby. I'm not allowed a Home Birth (previous shoulder injuries to babies and birthweight of Edward) so I can't guarantee one that way. I guess I'm just venting so that I can 'get over' the disappointment and move on. You never know, I may be able to have one, I'm just not holding on to that hope too hard I guess.

Thanks for reading lol.

Ah, I guess there's not much you can do but I really hope you get your water birth!

I feel the same! I have to have this LO on L&D rather than the MLU as I need IV antibiotics for GBS. There are 10 rooms, only 1 with a pool. I'm lucky as I got my consultant to agree to me using the pool on L&D if its free (the option had been ruled out by the midwives) but it seems like such a small chance :(. I really hope you get lucky and the room is free! Good luck :hugs:

Would you be comfortable with a homebirth because it's really not a case of them telling you what you can and can't do x

A homebirth doesn't really appeal to me - I did consider one with Eddy but it's just a lot of mess and hassle in a house that doesn't belong to me and doesn't feel like home. I agree, that if I wanted one I could push for one and probably get one as I'm continuing on a low risk route. I'm going to petition the consultant to try to go MLU as I have a late appointment (34+Weeks) and if they're willing to consider me as I'll hopefully be very low risk, I may be able to go. Kind of needed to get the disappointment out of my system I suppose.

I really wanted a water birth too,.but didn't get it :( I had her at 36 Weeks, had had PPROM for 48 hours and needed to be monitored constantly :( hoping I might get one next time, but I know I can do it out of the pool so it won't be so bad if I can't..

I hope you get your water birth!
I really wanted one last time but couldn't due to meconium and high bp and it going a bit fast after I moved to a different hospital :( Really hope I get to have one this time
