Hi everyone
I've been making up my feeds for LO for about a week, Midwife advised me to boil water put in bottles then add formula. Even though this was advice from a professional I felt uncomfortable as I knew you need water to be hot to kill bacteria in the formula. So I decided to add so much cool boiled, store the bottle then add boiling water from a flask and mix formula when needed. Thing is LO has been unsettled and seems constipated so I've been worrying if it's the way I'm making his feeds and after spending a morning on the Internet reading up about making bottles I'm very confused! I know we all have different methods but surely you need to fully make the bottle to kill any bacteria in the formula? So why are midwives, health visitors and even certain bottle manufacturers sites (tommee tippee) advising not to store made up formula?
I'm sure this questions probably been asked and answered loads of times but I really need some peace of mind as I'm driving myself mad! I was going to start as of today making up 3-4 bottles at a time so enough for day then make again enough for night so not keeping feeds longer than 12 hours and making them fully, cooling under tap then store in fridge until needed.
How do you make your bottles and what do you think is safest?
Thanks : ) xxx
