had sweep today.... has it worked for anyone?

Well as the title says, I have had my sweep about a hour and half ago, midwife said our little girls head is well and truely down but my cervix is well and truley shut do u think this will mean the sweep won't work? X

I had a sweep with my DD after 40 weeks but it didn't work for me. It was either because I was very uncomfortable that she had stop or my cervix wasn't favourable at the time. I think it was the latter because my DD was 10 days overdue. It worked for some ladies here.

I had my sweep on Friday, they say if it works it will bring on labour between 24-48 hours later. I am over the 48 hours so I guess it didn't work completely... BUT... I have had a lot of BHs since and my plug is starting to come away which I think may be because of it and hopefully a sign of progression.

Does depend on lots of things though, but I have heard they only work about 10% of the time. not sure if cervix is a good sign but it is good that baby's head is down.

i had one with DS at 41 weeks and 2 days later i lost my plug, then went into very very slow labour where it was basically dismissed and considered "not active" despite my pain... and the day after that i was induced.

i had one at 37+6 weeks cos i was having on and off contractions but it didn't work. but it has worked for a lot of people here
