My half bro(don't class him as that tho, class him as full, as I do with sis and other bro), looks like me and i can see my son in him. I met my half sister for tge first time last yr and i am nothing like her, even though my grandad always said i was the double of my real dad(don't know him).

We have a same mom. And the funny thing is that neither of us has a striking resemblance to our mom........ But we must share alot of her traits to look so much a like. People who don't know I have a sister but see her will ask if she is my sister . It's kinda crazy.

I have a feeling this is going to be the case with my dss and dd. I can already see my OH's face structure in my LO's 24wk 3d pics and dss has the same face.
I hope she resembles me and my side as well though!x

My sister and I have the same mom. Her dad has tons of kids (he's kind of a....player-for lack of a nicer word) and one of her sisters and my sister look EXACTLY alike. I actually saw her sister at a party before and thought it was her, I was bout to bitch her out bc she's only 16!! Good thing I didn't lol. This is my mom, my sis and me. I think we look alike in this pic but she does look more like her dad.

All of my siblings are either half or step. I have 6 in total. I only look like 2 of them .

My two have different dads and they look alike there both more like me but our daughter looks nothing like my partners other 2 daughters from his previous relationship xx

DH looks NOTHING like his half sister (share a dad)
However, his cousin has 2 kids from different mom's and they look so much alike you'd never believe they didnt have the same parents! And the mom's looked nothing alike, one had dark hair the other was very fair, both kids are very fair like their dad!

I think it just depends. I think my little boy looks very like his two cousins (OH's brother's children) and they are not as closely related as half-siblings would be. On the other hand, some full siblings don't look particularly alike so you can never tell!

I agree with pp, often you cant even tell brothers and sisters!

I went to visit my dads family a while ago and one of his young nieces looked at us both and said wow you two look so alike you can definately tell hes your dad. I burst out laughing because hes not even my real dad, she just doesnt know that!!! LOL

That is so funny! That just shows that family can not be actually blood related and still look very alike!

My OH's first son looks very like Eamon. I admit it is weird, I look at Eamon's face and see DSS looking back at me sometimes OH has seen it too and while he says it feels a little weird to him, it doesn't outright spook him like it does me! It's gonna sound strange but you don't expect another woman's child to look so much like your own even though logistically you know it must be possible as they have the same father. I'm mostly used to it now though even though lots of people have gone to/do accidentally call E by DSS's name and that shocks me (his dad especially!)

Great response, thanks. Yeah I can imagine being a bit freaked out if my dd and dss look really similar! The odd thing is, dss has a little Sister from his Mummy that looks nothing like him at all! She took all her Dad's looks. It will be really strange for dss' Mum if my daughter looks the spit of him won't it! Although as you say logically they are genes from the same Father, it is still freaky and fascinating! x

Oh my god, I wonder if my DS and DSS are going to be really similar then like your two are. I bet it will be the same for me. I'll have to keep you posted about it! How often is your ss over or does he live with you full time. What is the age difference between the two boys and are they close? x

There is 7 years between DSS and LO but they have never met I don't think we will end up telling the boys about him tbh, OH doesn't think there is any point as they'll never see him anyway. He doesn't live close at all so maybe he's right. It would have been so nice to see them all together!

My first two kids are step siblings (so weird to say) and they both have my eyes. Everyone in my dad's family have these eyes, super dark (almost black) brown. Other than that, they don't look much alike at all, as my eldest resembles her dad quite a bit.

I have a half sister & we looked nothing alike when we were growing up, perhaps in past due to the 7 year age gap. Now I'm 30 we look a lot more like each other & people arent surprised we are sisters any more!!

Aah that is sad, but as you say your OH is probably right that there is no point at the moment. Maybe when they are older? You never know x
