Are these safe in pregnancy? I have a really sore throat x x x

Yes, you can. They're actually Dr/Pharmacist recommended. :)

I don't think Strepsils are. All I know is Lockets are safe. :)

Sorry, yes I should specify - halls are ok. No idea about strepsils.

Ricola are good too. :))

I know halls are fine. I stayed away from the Ricola only because it says on the package not to take while pregnant...

Really?? Go figure! Ladies on the forums have been insisting on them. They're all natural, I didn't think they'd be unsafe. Strange!

I was told my pharmacist not to go for full strength halls. Ask in store when you buy :-)

I think the only reason it has that warning is because they dont have any trials to determine safety. I dont think there is any evidence that they are UNSAFE, but I figured I would rather be safe than sorry. I asked the pharmacist, and all the halls are fine, except for the ones with cough syrup in the centres.

Hard candy is best way to go. Mint and lemon are the best. most stuff sold for "colds" like halls and such have been proven to make things worse. They feel better till they are gone and before you know it your popping another one. makes sense, they sell more that way. Sorry if any one disagrees. I get sick alot and my doctor was the one that told me to switch to hard candy. even showed me the studies in his "doctors eyes only" book. so he call it. its huge! any who, get lots of liquids. stay away from dairy as it makes mucus thicker and makes it harder to breathe. honey is also good as its an natural anti inflammatory and antibiotic. Local honey is even better as it has antibodies from what would cause allergies from you local area. good luck!

Thanks so much for this - really glad I read it before I rushed off to spend my money! :)

Ugh, being sick when pregnant is HORRIBLE.

My husband brought me home Fisherman's Friend lozenges as told by our pharmacist for safety. :) They worked wonders for my cold and sore throat as well as calming my cough this weekend.
